How long have you been Straight Edge?
18 years.

What does Straight Edge mean to you?
It means alot! Actually it's just a personal choice I made for myself that I still continue to follow. I have no interest in drinking, or getting high, I never really have. I don't see any point in having an occasional glass of wine, or beer because I think that is just as pointless as an occasional joint. I do not feel like I'm missing out on anything. Straight Edge to me is how I live my life. It's not really about being healthy or pure, or rebelling. It's just how I wanna live my life the way I wanna live it, and I have no interest in poisons.

How did you get into it?
when I was about 13 two of my best friends were Straight Edge.We listened to bands like Minor Threat, 7 seconds, ssd,and dys.Bands that promoted drug free lifestyles. We went to shows and stuff. I didn't become Straight Edge until about 2 years later.

What's the sXe scene like in your area?
I guess the New York city scene would be closest that is closest to me. I grew up in that scene, and in the late 80's there was a big scene. Once the 90's came around it all kinda died out. There really isn't a big sXe scene here any more or many Straight Edge bands. There are Straight Edge kids, and people at shows X'd up, and some of the band members are Straight Edge. Not many Edge bands though.

What are some of your hobbies
?
Going to shows, riding dirtbikes, I like to surf in the summer,I snowboard in the winter, but not this year cos I had a broken ankle. I like to work on my mustangs, hang out with my girlfriend and my friends. Most of all work!

Music tastes?
I like lots of political bands. I like 77 punk, a little bit of 82 street punk, I like 88 sXe, early 80's Straight Edge, lots of old hardcore, but I don't really like new hardcore. Lots of old school punk, and a little bit of new school punk.

Fave band
s?
The Clash, Dead kennedys, 7 seconds, the buzzcocks, minor threat, black flag, blitz, youth of today, gorilla biscuits, turning point, no for an answer, special duties, the business, english dogs, slaughter and the dogs, oi! scouts, bouncing souls, snapcase, the explosion, rival schools,propaghandi,anti-flag(older albums),sick of it all, inhuman, bane, a global threat, the unseen, the casualties (no seriously!)

Best ever show
?
maybe my first show which was The Clash I think which was in 1983.

What's your opinion on Edgebreakers?
I don't care, it's sad sometimes, not my place to judge, or anyone elses. I would rather hang out with a cool Edgebreaker friend then some Edge friend who cares too much about Edgebreakers, and always throws around lines like "if you're not now then you never were" obviously I have obiously I have friends who broke Edge from being in the scene all these years. They respect me, and I respect them. I do not however like when Edge breakers talk shit about Straight Edge, and people who are still Straight Edge. It pisses me off just as much as when someone who broke Edge says stuff like "fuck Straight Edge, and all these Straight Edge kids, or Straight Edge is a bunch of bullshit."

First record you ever brought?

haha maybe The Police, led zeppelin or kiss. If you mean punk or hardcore I guess it was combat rock, or London calling by the clash. First hardcore record was out of step by Minor Threat.

Give us a line of lyrics to represent you...
"it's hard to be yourself with all this pressure coming down it takes a strong fucking person to hold your ground."

Last message for everyone?
Stay Edge! But don't give people a hard time if they choose not to. We're all in the same scene, and we're all in this world for each other. As human beings we should work to help each other, and not worry about petty shit like each other's sexual preferences, genders, race, nationalities, eating habits, ages, or if someone is Straight Edge, poison free, potheads, stoners, drunk punks. Stay united with each other.
