Lex & Ruby Graham Gardens

Lex & Ruby Graham Gardens

Strolling along, soon you come to a semi-tropical paradise sloping down to the water's edge - the Lex and Ruby Graham gardens.

To appreciate them fully, descend down some of the many little pathways to discover the beauty of sandstone rock faces, lush greenery rioting down the hillside and bright splashes of colour. In spring the most striking flowers are the peach-coloured Cliveas, but there always seems to be something in bloom.

Lex & Ruby Graham Gardens

These delightful gardens were started decades ago by Lex Graham, a local resident who initially planted just one plant on impulse and was surprised when it actually grew. He and his wife Ruby transformed the hillside (degraded at that time) into the beautiful garden you can enjoy today. It is still maintained by volunteers, with resources provided by the local council. There's a plaque and an information board nearby telling the story .

If mobility restrictions prevent you from exploring the myriad paths, there are seats nearby and room to park the wheelchair or pusher/stroller, so you can sit for a while enjoying the garden and water views.
