"Shingle Falls Trek" (May 17, 18 & 19, 2002) Spenceville Wildlife Area |
Wood Perkins and me, with views of Shingle Falls (Upper Falls) in the distance. Great weather for three days. Clouds rolled in to make our easy three mile hike out even more enjoyable. We knew the sudden coldfront meant rain, but never expected the deluge that followed. Luckily for us, we were in a nearby town, nursing cold beers (and gorging on Mexican cuisine) when it opened up. |
"Wood Perkins" (Dave Wagner) One great guy to share a trail with and one heck of a woodsman. He's a veteran backpacker and has run trails the world over. Involved with historical trekking for the past ten years, you can't trek with Wood and not learn a thing or two! |
Target shooting at 200 yards! ...errr, 100 yards!, okay, okay...25!!! |
Wood checking for Indian sign. This nice little rivulet fed down off the hill to the river below us. Still green and loaded with wildflowers, it was a great site for taking a break and filling the canteens. |
A tiny guest shared supper with us. He got some buffalo jerk (bag with the hole), but none of our roast squirrel! |
