Our Booker Tree begins in England about 1460 with Edward Booker. I have found little information covering the Bookers before they immigrated to the United States in 1632, but I will relate all that I have located over the Internet so far. My understanding is that all of the Amelia/Cumberland County, Virginia Bookers were related, but in different degrees. However, I believe they all descended from Edward and Richard Booker. Richard had several sons by his first wife, Rebecca Leake, but only one son by his second wife, Hannah Hand Marshall. |

Richard Booker I Comments: (The following from Source1) Edward Booker was born in England in 1590, came to America and settled in Virginia. He married Sarah Glover in England. She was a sister of Richard Glover, who was a noted attorney in England, and the lawful attorney of Edward Booker. Edward died in 1648. Sarah died September 2, 1646 in York, VA. This Edward Booker and his sons had several land grants in Virginia for thousands of acres and bought several thousand more. “Edward Booker was born in Gloucester, England in 1590. He immigrated to Virginia in 1632 where he had several land grants in several counties. He served as a member of the Virginia Council and was influential in public affairs until his death in 1648. From the earliest land grants in about 1623, down to the Revolution, there was not a land grant to any Booker except this immediate family.
