WOE
Woe: A planet in the Calixis Sector. Woe is a death world off the normal space routes near Zillman’s Domain. It is a heavily forested world with jungles and natural forests. Its population consist of 13 tribes of humans and various Warp distortions surrounded by denizens of the Warp. A harsh warrior based society the is cultivated and promoted by the Storm Dragons chapter of the Space Marines. +++PLANETARY DATA+++ EQUATORIAL CIRCUMFRENCE: 11,500 Miles. GRAVITY: 1.41G. CLASS: Death World. YEARS AND DAYS: Woe takes 360 Terran days to Orbit its star and spins on its axis every 23 Terran hours. SATELLITES: Woe has three moons. Called the triple aspects of the Emperor Dragon. Warrior, Shaman and Guide. They are all roughly the same size and shape, but are distinguished by craters that resemble various tools of the aspects. An example is a sword looking crater on the Warrior moon. Woe is a secluded world off the known space routes. Protected by the Storm Dragons Chapter of the Space Marines from any outside interference. POPULATION: 9,500,000 approx (human and Warp beings). MEAN SURFACE TEMPERATURE: 70 to 90degrees F in the inhabited areas TROPOSPHERIC COMPOSITION: Nitrogen 75%, Oxygen 21%, Argon 1%, Ozone 1%, Carbon Dioxide 1.5%. RELIGION: The tribes of Woe follow a strict warrior code which involves paying tribute to the Dragon Lords. Similar to Old World religions of Earth in the 1st and 2nd centuries. The Storm Dragons are seen as Dragon Lords who serve the Emperor Dragon (the Emperor of Man). Loyal and devote service to the Dragon Lords guaranties admittance into the Dragon realms Warrior Hall to continue to protect and serve the Emperor Dragon in death as they had in life. All male members of the tribes strive from birth to prove themselves worthy of acceptance into the ranks of the Dragon Lords. First at the time of ascendance to manhood and then at the time of death for faithful service. CLIMATE: Woe is a typical heavily forested and jungle world with higher temperatures near the equator and lower near the polar ends. CLIMATIC REGIONS: There are minor polar ice caps at the northern and southern extremes. The equator is set near a constant 95 degrees F with temperatures dropping at a steady rate moving away from the equator. SEAS: There are six major continents and eighteen major islands all surrounded by seas. The world is 35% land and 65% water. CLIMATIC PHENOMENON: Warp Distortions. . ALIEN FLORA AND FAUNA: There is no alien influence on the world, there is however many Warp distorted areas. These areas are infested with Daemon and other denizens of the Warp. The surrounding areas are filled with distorted and disfigured plants and animal life. The Storm Dragons allow it to an extant to keep the tribes on edge but deal with any excessive expansion aggressively and swiftly. WATER SUPPLY: Water is available on the plains and in the forests. There are tainted water supplies so when a tribe finds a good source of water it guards it fiercely. PRINCIPLE EXPORTS: Recruits for the Storm Dragons, plants and herbs that are used as medicine and poisons. PRINCIPLE IMPORTS: Foodstuff. Manufactured goods. CONFLICTS: The tribes of Woe are scattered across the world in loose hunting grounds with much of the world uninhabited. The taint of the Warp is strong in the uninhabited areas, and the Daemon and other fell inhabitants of the Warp are a constant threat to the tribes. DEFENCES: The planet is orbited by the Storm Dragons Fleet of Warships. This is the only defense for the planet STORM DRAGONS RECRUITMENT: Woe is the recruiting ground for the Storm Dragons chapter of the Space Marines. Once every year the planet’s Tribes send their young, soon to be warriors, to the sacred grounds. Then the Dragon Lords come flying down and after severe tests, select a few individuals to leave with them to become Dragon Lords themselves. The newly selected warriors are given a few moments to say goodbye. Then leaving all their possessions they are taken to the forbidden land. They receive a short sword and a knife, taught basic map reading and told to find their way to a point on the map. Each individual receives a different map leading to a different location. These locations are actually bases where they will be given their implants and their basic training in guns and armour as well as learn squad based tatics. From there they are sent off-world to join their new brethren in serving the Calixian Inquisitors. CONTACT WITH OTHER WORLDS: Woe is shielded from other worlds by the Storm Dragons. They allow no one access to the surface except their own chapter members. All trading is done by the chapter where members disguise themselves as a more advanced tribe and conducts trading between tribes. |
