MRS. MARY (O'NEAL) SYNNOTT, widow of Thomas Synnott, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Freibott, 141 Wheeler Avenue.
   She is survived by three sons, James F., Timothy L., and Thomas A. Synnott, and six daughters, Mrs. Freibott, Mrs. James J. Dolan, Mrs. John F. Skane, Mrs. James Farrington, Mrs. George Gore, and Sister Maria Gertrude, of the Sacred Heart convent, New Haven.
   The funeral will be held Monday morning at 9 o'clock from the home of her daughter, and a half hour later at St. Patrick's church where a solemn high mass of requiem will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery. ~ Bridgeport Telegram, April 28, 1923

Synnott, 95, of 71 Truman Street, widow of Timothy Synnott, who died Saturday, took place yesterday in the Wilmont, West and Goulding funeral home with the Rev. Robert C. REV. FATHER THOMAS J. SYNNOTT of the St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church of Bridgeport, died on April 30, 1884, after a long illness, aged 66 years. Father Synnott ws born in Kilkenny, Ireland, in 181, and was educated at Carlow College. About 1846, he came to this country and settled in Providence, R.I., where, in 1850, he was ordained a priest by Bishop O'Reilly, of that diocese, and became pastor of St. Patrick's church, Providence, where he continued one year. In 1852, he took charge of St. James church, Bridgeport, succeeding Rev. Father Lynch. His filed of labor covered much ground, embracing Fairfield, Stepney and Milford. His people increasing with the growth of the city, he built St. Mary's church of wood, which served until the present fine one of brick was dedicated in 1877. St. Augustine's was also built by him to accommodate the great increases in population. During the past six years, he was a member of the city Board of Education, and held the position at the time of his death. On St. Patrick's Day last, he was presented with a gold chalice and patin, valued at $1,000, the gift of his parishoners. ~ The Irish American, May 10, 1884

  
ANTHONY J. YANCHITIS Services will take place tomorrow for Anthony Yanchitis, 59, of Hillside Home, who died Saturday at 3 a.m. in Bridgeport Hospital.
   They will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. in the A.G. Baker Funeral Home, 1888 Stratford Avenue, and at 9 o'clock in the Blessed Sacrament church. Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery.
   Mr. Yanchitis is survived by his wife, Margaret Yanchitis; a brother, John Yanchitis of Swoyersville, PA; and three grandchildren. Dr. Edwin R. Connors, medical examiner, attributed death to a heart ailment. ~ Bridgeport Telegram, March 28, 1955

  
MRS. THOMASINA EVANCHESKY, aged 82, died at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre Thursday night. She had been a patient there since the previous Sunday when she fell down a flight of stairs fracturing a hip.
   A resident of Bernice for upwards of 30 years, lately she had been residing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Andrewlavage, there.
   Mrs. Evanchesky was a native of Poland and leaves a large family of children, only two of whom are well known here at present, Frank a resident of Bridgeport, Conn., and Mrs. John Polinsky, who moved from Bernice to Wilkes-Barre several months ago. A son, William, is on active duty with the U.S. Armed Forces at Hawaii. Mrs. Evanchesky's husband preceded her in death twenty-five years ago.
   The funeral was Monday morning from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Andrewlavage with a high mass of requiem in St. Francis Church, Mildred. Burial was in the parish where her late husband is also interred. ~ The Sullivan Review, December 24, 1941

  
MRS. FRANCES EVANCHESKY POLINSKY, 94 of Dushore, died January 3, 1992, at her home. She was born September 22, 1897, in Scranton, PA, where her family had moved from Chicago. She was a daughter of Francis and Thomasina Soklowski Evanchesky.
   She grew up in Mildred and attended Cherry Township High School and later on worked at Finan's Hotel  in Dushore. On August 3, 1914, she was married to John Harry Polinsky at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Mildred. In 1940, they moved to Swoyersville-Forty Fort, but in 1977, she returned to Sullivan County to reside with her son, the Rev. John R. Polinsky, who by that time had retired from the Diocese of Bridgeport, CT.
   Mrs. Polinsky was a memeber of St. Basil's Church in Dushore and St. Francis of Assisi Church in Mildred, and a member of the Altar & Rosary Societies of both churches.
   She was devoted to her home and her family.
   Surviving are four sons; Rev. John Polinsky of Dushore; Frank E. Polinsky of Forty Fort; William H. Polinsky of Utica, NY; and Richard J. Polinsky, also of Forty Fort; and two daughters, Alice M. Ortyl of Reading, PA and Genevieve Endrusick of Dallas, PA; a sister, Mrs. James (Stella) Herrick of Ormond Beach, FL; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 1961, and a son, Joseph, in 1983.
   Funeral services were held on January 6, 1992, from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, Dushore, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Mildred. Rev. John R. Polinsky and Rev. Paul M. Baier were celebrants. Burial was in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery. Memorial may be directed to the Dushore Fire Co. REV. JOHN POLINSKY, of the Queen of the Clergy Home, Stamford, Conn., formerly of Dushore, died Saturday at the Stamford Medical Center, Stamford.
   Born July 8, 1915, he was a son of the late John Harry and Frances (Evanchesky) Polinsky. He graduated with honors from the Dushore High School in 1934. He worked in the Mildred Post Office. He earned bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees in English from Lehigh University, Bethlehem. He taught at MMI, Freeland, and King's College, Wilkes-Barre.
   He entered the Semiary of Our Lady of Angels, Niagara University, NY, and studied at Marquette University, Wisconsin, and Catholic University, Washington, D.C. He was ordained to the priesthood May 3, 1960 at St. Augustine Cathedral, Bridgeport. Conn. He taught at Stamford Catholic High School and Notre Dame Catholic High School, Bridgeport. He was a teacher and chaplain of Holy Family at Nazareth Novitiate. He was a chaplain at Motherhouse of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Wilton, Conn., and Villa Maria Retreat House, Stamford. He was a member of the faculty of St. Mary's High School, Greenwich, Conn.
   He assisted the Sullivan-Bradford Catholic churches of St. Basil's, Dushore, St. Francis of Assisi, Cummiskey, St. Francis of Assisi, Mildred, St. Francis Xavier, Overton, and Sacred Heart Church, Laporte.
   He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and Frank.
   Surviving are his brothers, William, Utica, NY; and Richard, Forty Fort; sisters, Alice M. Ortyl, Reading; and Genevieve Endrusick, Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
   A Pontifical Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, with the Most Rev. John M. Dougherty, D.D., auxiliary bishop of Scranton, presiding. Interment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Mildred. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the P.
