These cover songs which SOAD play live are only short and don't really count as full songs. So I didn't add them to the Song list. But you can find info on them right here.

Full Band:

Goodbye Blue Sky - Pink Floyd

SOAD started playing this song live at concerts back in 2000. They used it as an intro for their song 'War?'. Recently they've played it at almost every show, using it to open for other songs than just War.

Daron plays the Pink Floyd riff, and sings "Goodbye blue sky, goodbye blue sky, goodbye". This gives Serj and excellent opportunity to share his views on what's happening to the Earth.

The band doesn't cover the whole original, Daron uses the same guitar riff, and lyrics from the end of the original song. Although Daron's playing it exactly how the original goes, it sounds quite a bit different. With his unique voice, and how they've only used a small portion of the song to turn it into a Serj speech time is awesome. Always awesome live. :)

Daron Covers:

When The Smoke Is Going Down - The Scorpions

If you have the Lowlands 2001 concert on MP3 or MPG, you will notice a little cover song Daron performs after Prison Song. Yes, yes, it's 'When The Smoke Is Going Down', by an 80's band The Scorpions. Daron plays the original guitar riff along with the first verse or the song'

Just when you make your way back home

I find sometimes to be alone

I go to see that place once more

Just like a thousand nights before

I think he's continued to play this at other shows too, it might become a regular like Goodbye Blue Sky, or maybe he will continue to play short covers straight after Prison Song, but he might change which song he covers now and then? I don't think you'll ever see SOAD record this little number.

China Girl - David Bowie

At the Auckland Big Day Out Festival, SOAD had to stop their set because of a barrier collapsing, and people with suspected broken legs. While everyone waited for the crowd to ease back Daron entertained us with a solo cover of David Bowies, 'China Girl'… I can only remember him saying China Girl, but it was very cool of him to keep the crowd entertained at such a crazy moment. I've heard Daron has performed this at other concerts also… but that's all I've heard about that.

Unsure:

Paranoid Android - Radiohead

SOAD played the SmokeOut Tour with Cypruss Hill in 2001. I read a review on the internet which said the band performed a short cover of Radioheads, 'Paranoid Android'.  Unfortunately, I've never seen any bootleg MP3s from this event, and so I haven't heard it for myself. Was anyone there, that remembers this? I doubt it, but hey….

Have you been to a SOAD concert, heard live audio or remember hearing about any other live cover songs?
