New F1 Rules to be bought in

According to a report in the Sport Section of the Sunday Times dated March 10th 2002. "It claims that Formula One is poised to bring inradical cost-cutting changes, over the objections of two of its biggest teams." They also said that the FIA Max Mosley believes the commission could approve the changes which include

¥ Limiting teams to using one engine at race weekends

€ Restricting testings

© Requiring engine manufacturers to supply more than one team

The FIA president also thinks the making manufacturers end the practise of building qualfying engines designed to last no more than 50km. Such measures could save teams £20million which would be handy to such cash strapped teams as Minardi and Arrows.

Such penalties are been planned for such breaches are that a driver could be knocked down 12 places which would increase the amount of overtaking in the early stages of the race. For it to work 18 out of the 26 must vote in favour for it to go ahead.
