Part 3
Dixie is very excited about Tad sleeping over. This is the first time she's had a friend stay over for the night. She shows him all of her favorite toys and stuffed critters, including her star-shaped pillow. They play together until dinner time. Bess orders chicken fingers for Tad and Dixie and a pizza for her, Will, and Lanie from the local pizza place. Tad and Dixie eat their children fingers together at a small kids table.

After dinner and a little dessert, Tad and Dixie get ready for bed. When it was time for them to be asleep, they lie on the floor of Dixie's room in their separate sleeping bags, talking. "I think you're name is cute," says Dixie. Tad blushes and says, "Your name is cute, too." Then Dixie yawns and says, "Good night, Tad." "Good night, Dixie," replies Tad, "Sweet dreams." They sleep side by side each other all through the night. However, at one point in the middle of the night there was a little thunderstorm. Dixie was always afraid of thunderstorms, especially of the thunder. Of the little bit of thunder that occurred, Dixie woke up scared. She saw Tad sleeping beside her and felt better and less afraid. She then settled back down, but snuggled up to Tad to calm her nerves. And Dixie soon felt Tad's arm go around her lightly, making her feel safe even though he was fast asleep.

Tad and Dixie ended up having many more sleepovers. Tad even started going to daycare with Dixie. He had fun there, and she helped him make new friends. Tad wasn't shy as much anymore and was almost as outgoing as Dixie was.
