Youth Advisory Group

Youth Participation is already in full swing for 2003 within the Goodfellow Unit at Auckland University.  The much-anticipated Peer Health Promotion Advisory Group is now established within the TADS programme to provide advisory support to youth sector programmes and to assist in the development of resource materials and facilitation of training activities.Four youth representatives have been appointed, they are from the four corners of Auckland; Aneta Przepiorski, Kimberley Brear, Karishma Singh and Sharon Middleton.  They have been selected to kick off this establishment phase and sponsorship is being sought to sustain a doubling of these appointments within the second phase of the project coordinator (Sheri Marander s.marander@auckland.ac.nz) to discuss any level of backing offered!TADS Youth sector delivers health promotions and risk prevention and intervention programmes developed to enhance the uptake of healthy lifestyle behaviours by young people.  The Peer Health Development Advisory Group is set to consult on youth appropriate pathways to decreasing tobacco, alcohol and other drug use and misuse, ensuring safer sexual health practices, increasing nutritional health and fitness, supporting mental health and emotional well-being, lessening bullying, peer abuse and offending and promoting healthy peer communication and relations.  The Peer Health Promotion Advisory Group is keen to link with other peer leaders/mentors/educators working within the youth health and development sectors (messages to the advisory group may be made to youth_health1@hotmail.com with the subject line being Attention: Peer Health Promotion Advisory Group, or phone: 3737599 extension: 86575) “The Voice of Youth”
