Cody (Tufts Alpine) and Casper (Saanen) were adopted from Tufts University goat barn. While we were spending our summer out at Tufts with Sassy one of the residents told us about the goats. My mother being the weakling that she is just had to go and look at the newborn babies. And it was made known that all we were doing was looking. We walked into the barn and saw two stalls set up with a ton of babies running around. Among the fiesty kids in the first pen was a set of triplets, two bucks and a doe. One of the bucks came running over to the side of the pen and started licking my hand and suckling my fingers. He was just too cute, I informed Mom that we had to take him home, thus Cody became ours. Casper was in the second pen and was the most friendly, sweet little goat. Mom fell instantly in love with him. So we signed the paperwork and they came home when they were old enough. | ||||||||||||||||

Arien (a Dorset/Shropshire cross) was a present to me from my neighbor (whom I call my "adopted grandfather"). She was born on Groundhog's Day and came home on Valentine's Day. She was the cutest little lamb. I first saw her when she was only an hour old and knew that she had to come home with me. Arien has a typical sheep personality but at times can be even more stubborn and bullheaded than the average sheep. She can also cow kick better that most cows I've known. She is sweet when she wants to be, and is completely happy hanging around the barn sleeping all day. She does, however, enjoy going out in Tucker's paddock and running figure 8s in between his legs. Gizmo has a very sad story. He was taken from a slaughter house after his mother was used for Easter dinner. Gizmo was too young to be any good and was going to be disposed of, but one of the workers took him home, and called Mom right away. Gizzy was under two weeks old and had pneumonia in both lungs, and lice when we got him. He spent six weeks living in our basement until he was healthy enough to go into the barn with everyone else. As you can see from the pictures he was the cutest baby goat ever. He's still cute but leans more towards the weird side of cute. |
