A Page in Memory of:
Toby Tyler's Silly Sydney
July 11, 1990 - February 27, 2001

Sydney came into my life shortly after I lost my first Golden Retriever.  She was a goofy little puppy, with huge feet that grew into the best dog I have ever known.

She loved to play, wrestle, retrieve, and cuddle.  I swear she was born with a tennis ball in her mouth and she passed her love for balls on to her puppies.
Her favorite toy
Sydney raised two litters of puppies in her short life.  The first was a litter of 8 beautiful puppies, including Jenny, ranging in color from deep red to beautiful golden.  The second litter had to be delivered by Emergency C-Section on a Sunday morning.  Due to complications Sydney had to be spayed after the puppies were delivered.  Despite being spayed Sydney nursed all of her puppies with no problem until the last one left at 9 weeks old.  Sydney was the greatest mom a person could ever wish for.  She was completely content just lying next to her pups in the whelping box for hours on end, playing with them in the yard, and discipling them when they crossed the line.

In December of 2000, Sydney was diagnosed with Lymphoma.  Despite our best efforts she did not respond to the Chemotherapy.  We chose to let Sydney cross the bridge 3 months after her diagnosis, so that she could go with dignity and pride, two traits that defined her entire life.

She was my first real dog, one that meant more to me than life, I will miss her forever, and will be rejoiced when I can meet her again on the bridge.
