This fiction is totally light and wacky. 100% Guaranteed to give just about anyone a good laugh. Although given the simple plot it's not likely to be a classic favorite. Jokes are abundant and variable, however as typical to most jokes it’s only pretty good for the initial laugh. Not the type of story you'll read over and over again but the type you read once, get a good laugh and recommend to stressed-out buddies.

A witty and intelligent humour fic despite the idiocy of the characters involved

| cocacola-lover:
Rukawa One of the main characters of this fic. In most part he is very much in character however in scenes where he is with the OC's he sometimes go OOC. As expected Rukawa is always cool, calm and collected. I admire the way rj-chan was able to make him hilarious despite this stoic demeanor. Sakuragi A naďve loud-mouth idiot who’s desperate and stupid enough to ask for Rukawa’s help. Sakuragi seems to be totally in character except for the fact that he cooperates with Rukawa’s out-of-this-world schemes. Sendoh In my opinion this is by far the best comic portrayal of Sendoh I've encountered. Sendoh is portrayed as a bundle on contradictions: witty and silly, irritating and lovable. Sendoh is simply irresistible in this fic you couldn’t help but ask for more of this guy. Zero:
Sakuragi Sakuragi is as idiotic as everyone else in this fic. Even though he is suppose to be one of the lead characters, and he does have a lot of funny moments. He just does not give as much of an impact as Rukawa and Sendoh. Sendoh rj-chan portrayed Sendoh as most writers typically portrayed him "an irritating perverted idiot who flirts and smiles a lot." What I find not so typical is the witty dialogues that just got me laughing my guts out. This fic definitely made me a Sendoh fan, somehow Sendoh unintentionally stole the limelight from Rukawa and Sakuragi (supposedly the main characters of this fic) whenever he appears, this is especially true in the later chapters. Raging maple:
Worthy of notation is the funny way the author built the character of Rukawa in this fiction. Kaede Rukawa-the great Ice Man- is so darn determined to help Hanamichi Sakuragi-his supposed arch-rival-for a little favor…and ends up getting the poor red-headed do ahou into a lot of trouble ^-^ Quoting Sendoh's words "TALK ABOUT THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND!". And for a change, Rukawa decides to be good in school--and becomes such an intellectual jerk defying the laws of Physics, you can't help but laugh your head off! For a moment, he leaves one thinking "He has a point there…" I tell you, the guy's a real thinker, he can put Socrates to shame! =D Sendoh What gives fanfiction writers the idea that Sendoh's a pervert? Hm? Is it because he smiles quite a lot that he seems to be flirting all the time? I think Sendoh's also OOC in this fic (as he is in a number of others). But he's really kinda amusing as a hentai-brained character, nevertheless, as he brings more laughter into the story. He's hentai, all right, but a rather witty one ^-^ |
Cocacola_lover : This fic started a bit typically but the writer obviously improved as the chapter progressed. The use of Dr. T in this fic is what truly made it different from the rest. Best of all the chapters just keep getting better and better as the story progresses.
I especially loved the way the author portrayed Sendoh. Sendoh is usually funny in any fic but he got me rolling over with laughter in this fic. The jokes varies from hints of lemon, intellectual word plays, and plain wacky antics. Will definitely get anyone laughing. 2 Original Characters are present but they only act as supporting characters. The main focus/characters are originally Sakuragi and Rukawa however Sendoh plays a prominent role in the later ones. Zero: I agree with cocacola_lover about the initial chapters and Dr. T. The early chapters started out sort of bland but the title and summary did caught my attention enough to keep me interested. There's an obvious improvement of the later ones. The grammar is good but there are a number of typos/spelling errors. rj-chan used all the Shohoku main characters as well as a few Ryonan players. I believed that the best portrayed characters in this fic is Rukawa and Sendoh. Although Rukawa has a tendency to be a bit OOC in some chapters but the author obviously tries to keep him in character, the result, a hilariously cool calm and collected guy. Sendoh is just "Hentai-ly Cute" though I pity poor Koshino for having to put up with that guy. Another sub-plot to watch for is Koshino’s and Sendoh’s off-the-wall schemes. Sendoh alone can get you cracking-up but with his trusty side-kick by his side, they’re an unbelievable combination. There are plenty of humour and most of it are pretty original. Though in terms of romance the developments are pretty slow and the romantic chase was designed more to be funny than anything else. This work is of romance in-so-much as you’ll end up rooting for a character to win the guy/girl but all this is devoid of that sappy romantic feeling that we associate to good romance. Raging Maple: The fiction as a whole is just so oozing with teenage wit and insanity (and pervert fun, thanks to Sendoh!). Yup. That's how I see it. And I guess that's also what makes this ficcie really entertaining. The story doesn't only focus on one plot but branches out into a number of others. And as hilarious as the story is, there's really no predicting what might happen next or how this is gonna end. Technically…well, the story is told in a rather casual manner. NO annoyingly loooong descriptions that bore readers to death *which is really good*. Although, we see a sudden shift of style from the Prologue and Chapter One to the other Chapters. While the writer uses the script-form in the first two sections, she proceeds with paragraph form althroughout the rest of the fiction. With the absence of a speaker-indicator, I find it rather hard to catch up at some point (or was it only because my brain was half-dead while I was reading it?) And typos are no help in making things easy for me. And the shifting of tenses is rather irregular. Present, past…If I were to write a composition in that manner, my English prof's gonna bury me alive =P But that's only grammatically and technically speaking. Like I said, this fic is entertaining. If you're up for a good laugh and a good dose of teenage wit and wackiness, this fic is highly recommended. |
