Background:

Initially Miyagi joined the basketball team for his love for the game. Later on, he is also playing for the love of his life Ayako (who is the team manager).

Miyagi tried to date other girls to forget Ayako, however, this plan of his failed dismally. He initially mistook Sakuragi for Ayako's boyfriend and got into a fight with the red head. The two trouble-makers later bonded upon finding out their common pain in seeking that fleeting thing called love.

Ryonan's Coach Taoka asked him to join the Ryonan Basketball Team, Miyagi chose for Shohoku because of Anzai Sensei.

Like most of the starting line-up of the Shohoku Team, Miyagi is a trouble-maker who often gets into fights. He was also the one who made Mitsui lose a tooth, although he had to stay in the hospital for some time after that fight.

Skills:

Miyagi is quite short, but he is extremely fast, he is among the fastest players in Slam Dunk. He can handle the ball well, this combined with his speed enables him to tear up the opponent's defense and deliver excellent passes to the free team mate. He's also able to get a score at his own powers and his steals are just marvelous.

Miyagi is a good point guard with a great handle of the game, he's also able to give blind passes to his team mates (pass the ball without looking).

Miyagi is also a the strategist and has the ability to relate and get along with almost everyone. Because of all these, combined with his skills, he is the next team captain when Akagi retires to focus on exams.

Coach Anzai says that Miyagi's value to the team is his speed and his senses.

Weakness

Miyagi is a bit short tempered sometimes and hates when people make fun of his length.

Miyagi also tends to get distracted when his "Aya-chan" cheers for him, although he recovers quickly to concentrate on the game at hand. (Aya-chan is also his inspiration to perform better ^_^)

Personality:

His quite short and has an earring on his left ear. He also wears sweat bands on his left wrist and toatlly in love with Ayako.

Miyagi is a smart but kinda rude person, who is usually only nice and sweet to Ayako.
