Welcome To Our Cross Stitchin' Corner!

Recently, Blondi and I have been captured by cross stitch. I've been doing it for some time, Blondi has been stitching for approximately a year now. Her skills have improved so much that she is already tackling projects that would leave me daunted! Check out her rose below! This is only part of a larger project that will eventually have a dove and a quote from the Bible as part of the overall piece. It is stitched on 14-count Oatmeal Aida cloth, with 16 shades of DMC floss.

I love dragons, and while there are some very nice dragon cross stitch patterns available for sale, I wanted to design something different. This is my first attempt at designing my own pattern. It's a tribal type of design, with a bit of nature thrown in. I stitched it myself, using a combination of DMC thread and blending filament. It's stitched on 14-count Oatmeal Aida cloth.

You Know You're A Cross-Stitcher When…

You think the X-Files is a show about cross-stitching.

Your car knows how to get to Michael's all by itself.

You hear on the news that the police confiscated a large stash from a suspect's house and wonder when floss possession became illegal.

You know that UFO really stands for UnFinished Object and have no idea what those NASA people are talking about.

You get party invitations with "please leave stitch projects at home" written under the RSVP line.

Your family finds floss tails in their dinner.

You missed boarding your airplane because you had to finish off one more section.

You realize you should have bought Rubbermaid stock.

You see a brilliant rainbow and know the DMC numbers for each colour.

An interesting collection of some of our favourite designers.Designers Page

The Creative World Of DMC

This is the official DMC website. I was surprised at the breadth at this site. They have a project of the month, a message board, a conversion chart, a DMC product listing,a beginners question and answer index, projects that we can do with our kids, free patterns and more. It's worth checking out, but be warned...you'll spend more time there than you think!

The Counted Cross Stitch, Needlework and Stitchery Page

This has to be the biggest cross stitch resource page I've seen in some time. I just spent an hour and a half there, and didn't see everything! It's here you'll find a trail of breadcrumbs to the RCTN page, and how to read the messages of the Usenet group if you can't get Usenet. It's here that you'll find "how-to" articles on a wide variety of topics of interest to the stitcher, links to designers, links to free charts, retailers, needlework FAQ's, and a calculator that will tell you what size fabric you need according to the stitch dimensions of your project. And that's not all, go and pay Kathleen a visit!

The About.com's Cross Stitching Resources

Go take a look, but plan to be there for some time!
