ALEX PERRY (Midfield/Wing-back)Date of birth: 20 Jul 1983Skilful midfielder with an eye for goal, Alex was signed from West Wight at the start of last season and is another of former reserves boss Paul Sleep's excellent youngsters. He hasrepresented Hampshire at Under 18 and Under 21 levels.
GLEN HOWES (Midfield) Glen joined the port during the summer of 2003. His pre-season matches was to show tremendious promise and has already shown the Newport supporters that he will become a fans favourite. His attacking play will give many a defender something
to worry about this season. previously with Basingstoke.
DANNY HATCHER (wing back): Danny has proven himself to be a handful already with Newport, having joined his hometown club from Leyton Orient. Danny joined the ‘port in the latter months of 2002 and was to soon make his mark on the Newport supporters, putting in some excellent displays. Showed his class when scoring for the ‘port with a great header v Sheffield Utd.
GARETH KEEPING (Midfield)Date of birth: 21 May 1982Gareth scored on his debut against Fisher Athletic after signing for us in October 2002 from Lymington & New Milton. The 20 year-old attacking midfielder had impressed player/manager Steve Tate when the pair were team-mates at the Wessex league club and became Tate's first signing. Gareth was to go on and become the club’s leading scorer last season and winner

JON HOLMES (Defender)Date of birth: 10 Dec 1983Jon joined Newport at the start of last season from Island League side Yarmouth & Calbourne and produced some outstanding displays in the reserves defence. Made his first team league debut in the opening match against Stamford. He was to go on and make an impact in defence becoming a regular in the back-line, he also scored the winner v Salisbury in the Dr Martens League Cup in the season 2002/03.
CHRIS BRIDGES (Striker)Date of birth: 17 Mar 1982Chris is an Island youngster who has progressed through the 'A' Team and the reserves, making his first team debut this season as a substitute against
Banbury United. Was to make an impact on his first start for the
‘port v Ashford when he scored. Was unlucky to miss out on the IW Senior (Gold) Cup through suspension.
ASHLEY WRIGHT (Striker)Date of birth: 27 Feb 1979Ashley missed the whole of the Premier League season after suffering a double fracture
of the leg against Ashford Town in April 2001. Leading scorer in
1998/99, the former Cowes Sports striker was to re-establish himself
in the team for the latter part of last season. Ashley was to start to recapture the form that was cruelly missed from our Premier League season.
MARK ISAACSON (Defender)Date of birth: 2 Aug 1975 Mark made only a handful of appearances for the reserves and 'A' team last season due to work commitments. After a previous spell with the club, the former
East Cowes Vics and Cowes defender made his long-awaited first
team debut against King's Lynn in September. He was to weigh-in with
a goal against DM Premier side Weymouth in last seasons 3-1 win in
the Dr Martens League Cup
LEE CHUD (Midfielder)A skillful left-sided midfielder/wingback, who started his career with Crystal Palace as a schoolboy. Also a trainee
with Nottingham Forest and Reading. Moved to Wokingham Town and then onto Basingstoke Town, where he gained experience of the Ryman Premier Division, before a loan move to Staines Town turned into a permanent deal. Moved briefly to Cove before making his debut for AFC Wallingford on boxing day at Reading Town. Made 16 Appearances for them (5 as a sub) scoring 3 goals

League Combination Cup winin the 2001/02 season. A midfield dynamo with his strong tackling and possesses a good range of passing.
JAMIE O'ROURKE (Striker)Date of birth: 17 Dec 1975Jamie signed for a four-figure sum from Havant & Waterlooville in October after scoring 38 goals in 113 appearances for the Hawks. The Island-based striker has also played for Ryde Sports, East Cowes Vics, Gosport Borough, Waterlooville and Cowes Sports before joining the Hawks in January 2000. Was to be the clubs second leading scorer in his first season for the port
SIMON PILCHER (Defender/Midfield/Striker)Date of birth: 22 Aug 1981Simon is another ex-Yarmouth & Calbourne player in the squad who joined Newport last summer. He scored 15 goals in his first season in
the Wessex Combination and also made two league appearances for the first team in the DM Premier League. He was to go on to be the suprise package for the ‘port with his outstanding season, playing in many different positions and giving 100% in every one of them.
PETE TAGG (Defender)Date of birth: 24 Nov 1971 Rejoined the 'Port in September after a two year absence due to a Services posting. An experienced defender who has represented the Combined Services and captained the Army. Taggy is renown for his strong tackling and his never say die attitude.
ADAM BARSDELL (Midfield/Striker)Date of birth: 29 Oct 1975This is Adam's second spell with the club after re-signing from Cowes Sports for the 2000/01 season. Made his Newport debut in the 1994/95 season before joining Cowes in 1998. ‘Barney’ has the pace and skill to unlock defences and was to score the opening goal in the IW Senior (Gold) Cup final last season.
TAFFY RICHARDSON (Player/Assistant Manager) Respected Motivator
of players, he tends to lead by example and whatever position he
plays gives 100% every time. Had spells  with Lyminton and New Milton, Basingstoke and Salisbury City, which he also managed.
ADAM LANG (Wing-back)Date of birth: 2 Sep 1982Adam joined in February 2002 after Barry Fry released him at Peterborough United, where he was Youth team skipper, and subsequently recommended
him to then-Newport boss Guy Whittingham. Adam was to make the headlines when he was to score a hat-trick of free-kicks v Erith & Belvedere
STEVE TATE (Player/Manager)Date of birth: 16 Dec 1968Steve is an experienced striker who rejoined the club in September after spending the previous nine months with Lymington & New Milton. He was appointed player/manager two weeks later, starting his reign with a
win against King's Lynn. Steve was originally purchased from
Weymouth for £4,000 in August 2000 after joining the Terras from
Havant & Waterlooville for the same fee in December 1999. Started as an apprentice with AFC Bournemouth and played for Lymington, Bashley
and Havant Town, when Tony Mount was in charge, before being sold
to Waterlooville for £7,000. Steve is renown for not suffering fools
gladly, he is a manager who wears his heart on his sleeve and expects
those whom he manages to do the same
