General Info On Israeli Art: Because of Israel's widely diverse landscapes and multicultural nature, the artistic expression in this country is very diverse and exciting. There are three bacic trends that have shaped Israeli art over the years. The first trend is the influence that both the Bible and European culture have had on Israeli art forms. The artists used many European techniques to depict Biblical scenes or events. The next trend was that of creating a new "Hebrew art" that was unique and unifying to Israeli fine arts. The third and final trend has become important lately in the country and is the trend towards contemporary abstraction. These trends have provided artists of today with a rich history and tradition to work from. Israel is most known for its bright desert and Mediterranean colors used in its artwork. Israeli painters and sculptors are internationally known in several types of abstract work. Israel has developed a great art culture in the last hundred years. Info from Focus Online Magazine |
