About The Railway |
The Talyllyn Railway was the worlds first preserved railway, 1951 - 2001. It was Built in 1865 to carry slate from Bryn Eglwys slate quarry in the hills up from Abergynolwyn Village. The railway runs from Tywyn Wharf Station to Nant Gwynol Station (7 1/4 Miles). |
The railway started carring passengers from Tywyn Pendre to Abergynolwyn in the 1860's. It started with coaches 1-3 & Van 5 Later the Cheaper Limping Lulu (coach4) came into services [see stock] |
