A TRIP TO TAMAN NEGARA BY
SMALL GROUP
Malaysia's treasure trove
- Taman Negara, which simply means
"National Park", having existed
for the past 130 million years, is
claimed to be one of the oldest jungles
in the world!
This
great rain forest covers 4,343 sq km,
sprawls across the states of Pahang,
Kelantan, and Trengganu. While the
forests of the northern hemisphere were
affected by the advance and retreat of
icecaps until the end of the last Ice Age
some 10,000 years ago, the landscape of
the Peninsular Malaysia's rain forests
have been geologically stable, without
major uplift, or folding, or subsidence
and new deposition.
The
greatest reward of a visit to Taman
Negara is simply the chance to get out
into one of the most pristine primary
rain forests in the world! The
night bus from Penang takes about 6.5
hours to reach Jerantut. We then take a 3
hours boat ride the next morning into the
park center. forest.
Not a bad place to spend the long weekend
and test out my new
WHAT THEY BREATHE IN,WE BREATHE OUT. CONSERVE IT...
