July 14th was the beginning of Buddhist Lent, and therefore a national holiday. Ryota and I took advantage of having a two-day vacation and took off to the sex- oops, I mean, beach- resort of Pattaya. This seaside town is only about two hours south of Bangkok so it's a popular place for rest and relaxation. And sex. In case I didn't mention that. |

From what I can tell, there is not any form of entertainment in Pattaya that does not include girls for sale. This is one of the 'strips' during the day. I didn't manage to get a seedy neon night shot with girls go-go dancing with their order numbers pinned to their panties so sorry to disapoint the perverts and voyeurs. Daytime on the strip was enough for me. |

Ryota and I preferred the more mundane activity of browning our bodies for our upcoming wedding. I want there to be some contrast between the colour of my skin and the colour of my dress, but it's a fine line between me getting sun and me getting baked. Ryota spent most of his time dozing on the beach and I spent most of mine slathering on the ol' sunblock. |

There are a lot of beautiful beach retreats in Thailand. If you ask me, Pattaya just isn't one of them. Sometimes you can catch a pretty moment like the sunset, but at other times you can be overwhelmed by the pollution and general yuckiness. |
