Phimai
Northeast of the city of Khorat lie the ancient ruins of Prasat Phimai.  This temple is an interesting mixture of Hindu and Mahayana Buddhist styles.  Construction began in the 10th century under the orders of the Khmer King Jayavarman V.  This Angkor-Khmer sanctuary had been reduced to ruins and decay and had been more or less engulfed by the jungle until restoration began in 1964 as a joint project between the Thai and French governments.
We were fortunate to get a chance to visit Phimai soon after my arrival in Thailand. Some of the wives of members of management in Ryota's company (from the Japanese branch) came on a tour and were kind enough to invite us along on their sight-seeing.
