Project Lancaster Airborne at Last! - OCT, 99
The final contract signings and the issuing of permits have
been completed. Work has now begun in earnest. At the time of
writing (Tuesday Oct, 10, 99) the props, spinners, engines,
engine mounts, bomb bay doors and tail f ins had already been
removed and trucked to TAM. Outer wing panels and fuselage have
come off. Drop by the site often to note progress!
We are in need of volunteers to help clean the parts of the
Lancaster as they arrive. Click on "How Can I Get
Involved" for more details.
We've Got Heat! - Oct 99
Thanks to volunteer Jamie Strachan and his steam fitting crew
a new steampipe has been fitted across the entrance to the Avro
bay. This is higher than the previous one, so we can now move the
Tracker etc. between hangar areas withou t taking down
steampipes.
As a result of this work, the steam heating if functional again,
so the hanger is warm once more!
