Tanathir's mother Naomi is the original dirty girl. When Naomi was young, she was a tomboy who basically didn't care about keeping clean. Her friend's older sister always scolded, "Don't play with her! She's a dirty little girl!" To this day, neither Naomi nor daughter Tanathir can keep the dirt from virtually jumping onto clean clothing. We sweat like men, and don't even ask how messy we get mowing the lawn or cooking dinner. We will never be able to safely wear white for fear of all dirt within a five-foot radius jumping onto our clothing.
Enter Hugo Weaving. (*yes, please*) Of course you know the significance of the preffered spelling of "deir-ty" because this is how Hugo pronounced it in The Matrix Revisited. The esteemed Hugonut oqidaun mentioned this on the Ringbearer.org messageboard. Tanathir, during one of her frequent ornery moments, mentioned on the HW mailing list that she is a dirty girl, and the two naturally combined.
We are Hugo's Deir-ty Deir-ty Girls. Deir-ty can't be washed off. Unfortunately, no one can be told what deirtiness is, you have to see it for yourself. Suffice it to say, to be deir-ty is to be ornery, wicked, both platonic and non, and of course above all, worshipful of His High Hugoness.
Viva el Hugo! Viva las Deir-ty Girls! |
