I jumped at the chance to own Hanna, as I had seen her at 10 weeks old, floating across the snow and jokingly told Leanne that Hanna was the dog I wanted!
Leanne did not want to part with Hanna but she was not a girl-dog that wanted to live in a beautiful kennel setting out in the country with a lot of room to run around with other GSD's. Hanna wanted to be a 'one-on-one' dog. So at 5 1/2 months of age, Hanna has joined us here at WEESKELF, she is my constant companion and shadow.
She might jump on me when greeting me, but she does not usually jump on anyone else. Well, Leanne - AFTICA KNLS , Bob & Bonnie - BREAKAWAY KNLS - are the exception. LOL She knows that my husband is not strong enough to put up with her jumping on him...
Hanna also has learned that some Min Pins will NOT put up with her antics, so she now just worries the other ones that prefer not to be in the yard with her.
As for barking, she will bark at a stranger at the door - not family or friends - just strangers. That is exactly what I was looking for too!
Hanna and I go for our strolls either in the two or three large fields that are right behind my home where we follow the tracks made by the 4-wheelers. Or we
take a late night bike ride around my community. It is probably funny to watch the two of us setting off. Hanna has a flashing strobe-like light attached to her collar
in case we meet any cars, and I have a flashing red light on the back of my bike. You see when you work straight evening shift, sometimes the only time to bike is at midnight! At least it is nice and quiet then.
Bob & Bonnie Wright own Hanna's mom and Hanna was the payment for the stud service that Leanne supplied.Bob & Bonnie weren't too sure about Hanna leaving Aftica Kennels, but I think they now realize that Hanna is still in good hands, Right guys?
Now that Hanna has completed her Canadian Championship, I have started her training for obedience.
Maybe by next spring, we will be ready to enter some trials. She would be my third breed with an obedience title if we follow through with it. My first breed was Min Pins - Ch Weeskelf Cast A Magic Spell C.D., then I even titled my Norwegian Elkhound - Ch Karinne's Sycamoose C.D., and so now - a GSD.
Well, we didn't work on obedience this summer due to the heat. What we did do is learn all about "SCOOTERING" from Liz McFie in Kemptville! Hanna now knows her commands to "lead-on", "whoa", "on-by", "haw" & "gee" and when she has her harness on she loves to pull me along on my scooter!
