Her "big break" was when John Singleton called her to choreograph Michael Jackson's "Remember the time".  Fatima wants to direct, and has already directed a music video called "Heads high" By Mr. Vegas.     How she got her start

Meet the 28-year-old behind Will Smith, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Brandy, Aaliyah, Mya, Mary J. Blige, the
Backstreet Boys, and more. Fatima Robinson is the hottest choreographer in the world of music videos and live performance. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Fatima moved to Los Angeles at the age of four with her mother and two younger sisters. After completing high school, Fatima dreamed of opening her own hair salon like her mother, but her love for dance led her out to the clubs, and into dance contests. "An artist was looking for some dancers, so my friend and I went on stage at the club and battled some other girls and won," Fatima reminisces. That was the beginning. With some contest victories, and a mind full of dance steps, Fatima quickly became one of the top dancer/choreographers in the music video industry.

Her "big break" came just two years later, when director John Singleton asked her to choreograph the video for Michael Jackson's Remember the Time. Since then, Fatima has choreographed videos for most of today's top artists: "Her resume (runs) around the clock on MTV," Serena Altschul of the MTV News commented.

Acclaimed by critics and peers, Fatima is the back-to-back winner of the Music Video Producer's Association Award for
Best Choreography. In 1998 she received the honor for her work on Busta Rhymes' Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See, and in 1997 for her hip-hop tango in Dr Dre's Been There, Done That. In addition, Fatima received two MTV Video Music Award nominations for Best Choreography for her work on these videos. Fatima was also nominated for best choreograhy last year for her work on Will Smith's Wild, Wild West.

Fatima choreographed and is featured in the GAP advertisement "Khaki soul" directed by Hype Williams. Fatima is also the resident choreographer for the Backstreet Boys, and as such she choreographs all their videos and live performances including their Into the Millennium World Tour. Fatima also just completed Will Smith's latest video "Will2K" which features dance from the 40's through the future.

In addition, Fatima was recently named one of Entertainment Weekly's "100 Most Creative People in Hollywood." She has been featured in JANE, Cosmopolitan, Essence, Bop, BB, Panache, Pride, Fitness, Heart & Soul, Honey, SPIN, and Teen People; and has upcoming articles in VIBE, YM, and Conde Nast Women's Sports & Fitness. Fatima has released "Go Fatima", an instructional dance home video in which she teaches some of her most famous routines from Backstreet Boys, Aaliyah, and more. Fatima hopes to eventually follow e footsteps of one of her mentors, Debbie Allen, by making the transition into music videos and film direction.
