I'm a Dancing Machine....

Ok, honestly I am a dancin' machine. ever since I was 2, I have always been dancing. My first performance was to my favorite song, "Brick House" by The Commodores. I even had the "booty shake" down pat then. Got many whippin's from that though. When I was lil', I wanted to be a Soul Train dancer (honestly I did), until I found out that they taped the show in California. And I didn't want to go there, because they always seemed to be having earthquakes and what not, so that was out of the question. Then I wanted to be a Rockette. I probably would've been if I could've grown about 5 more inches. I think my legs grew faster than more torso, because I have really long legs but my top half isn't as proportional to that.

But ever since then, I've taken tap, ballet, gymnastics, jazz, baton, and everythiing under the sun. But I'm just one of those people with "natural rhythm", and can just dance really well without trying too hard.I'm not trying to be conceited by saying this, just honest. What can I say it's a gift from God!

In elementary and junior high, I was a pop-lockin' fool and the breakdancin' queen. I could battle with the best of them. The "Kid N' Play" kickstep was in full effect from '88 to '90.Yeah, I'm ashamed to say it, but I even knew the old M.C. Hammer moves and owned "Hammer" pants. But come on who didn't? I ate at Taco Bell, but I didn't drink PEPSI!

In college, I was a member of a sorority (Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,INCORPORATED). We did MANY step shows and dance routines there as well.

Plus, I'm musically gifted as well. I play the piano by ear, but I took lessons for about 11 years, so I play a mean rendition of the classics.

Now I'm definitely into hip hop dancing. This is the kind of dangcing that I've been doing all my life, they just finally came up with a name for it. I'd love to pursue it further, if only I was given the chance. I wanted to try out SO BADLY for the "In Living Color" fly girl spot, but I was too young:( As a result, Jennifer Lopez got the job.

So now my biggest inspirations in the world of dance are:

Fatima Robinson

She is the WOMAN no doubt! She has choreographed every video that I have ever liked in my WHOLE life. I probably know all the videos that she has done. Among my favorites are Dr. Dre's "Been There, Done That' (I had the "ghetto tango" down pat", Aaliyah's "Are you That Somebody" , and Micheal Jackson's "Remember the Time".

Leslie Segar

aka "Big Lez". I have liked her ever since L.L. cool J.'s "Around the Way Girl". She has beena big inspiration, and shown me that you don't have to weigh $1.05 (according to Hollywood standards) to be able to dance well in a music video.

Rosie Perez

She choreographed all the Fly girl routies on "In Living Color"! How can you not love her?

Debbie Allen

There isn't enough room to even go on about Debbie Allen. Let's just say that I could've been on "Fame" with Leroy in dance class. I knew all the dances in that show for 5 years. She is so talented. She choreographed all the dance combinations in "Fame". She even choreographed some MAJOR award shows.
