Rove McManus moved from his home town of Perth to Melbourne, to pursue a career in stand-up comedy in 1995. In 1998 he began making regular appearances on the ABC's Good News Week/Good News Weekend programs, gathering himself a strong television fan base.

Some of the weirder things Rove did on Good News Week include eating a bit of raw kidney for three points - a kidney that had been thrown across the studio by Justice Minister Amanda Vanstone - and they didn't even win the game! He has also donned a pair of fake comedy breasts, which were the subject of a lot of discussion and he had to sit with his arms crossed for the first ten minutes of the show so no-one noticed! He has appeared on the Good News Week 100th episode special and the Good News Week New Years Eve Special - Perth version.

Up until the end of 1998 he was host of "The Loft". a live TV show on Channel 31, which also starred Kim Hope from GNW. In late 1998 he began work on a show for thecomedychannel called "Dilemma", on which four people face mind-blowing dilemmas, and are awarded points for their efforts (hint: lying, cheating, violence and being *really* mean helps a lot!).

In early 1998, Rove joined Channel Nine and began work on a late night show for them, in an attempt to bring "new and fresh talent" to the station. There was a rumour that he may replace Daryl Somers as host of Hey Hey It's Saturday... (interesting!). He has appeared on many of the "Super Debate" series, arguing against "Middle Age Is Sexy", for "The Queen Needs A Facelift" and for "It's Better Being Single. His team have won two out of three, only losing to the very experienced "Better Being Single" opposition (Tim Ferguson, Wendy Harmer and Jean Kittson).

On 22 September 1999, Rove's own show "rove" premiered on Channel Nine at 11pm, co-starring Peter Helliar, Corinne Grant and Dave Callan. It received great reviews from lots of newspapers, and there are predictions of "great things to come" for Mr Rove. Channel Nine did not renew his show for 2000, however, but Channel Ten picked it up. In late 2000, Rove Live premiered, with the same sort of premise as it had the previous year, just with more guests.

Rove has also done some ads for Solo soft drink and has appeared on Hahn Ice Headliners on Pay TV. Rove's birthday is the 21-01-1974.
