Tim Ferguson was born on the 16th of November in the early 1960s. He grew up in Canberra and after high school attended further education in Australia's capital. He is married to Victoria, and they have three children.

When the Doug Anthony Allstars split up, Tim was approached by the writers of Frontline to play a character called Grant in their 70s cop show spoof, Funky Squad. Tim accepted the role, and was decked out in a platinum blonde wig, groovy glasses long-sleeved Hawaiian shirts and tight flares for his role.

In mid-1995, the Nine Network commissioned Tim to host the television series Don't Forget Your Toothbrush, where a studio audience were brought in, with the promise that two people would leave the studio that night on their way to either a fantastic holiday destination (such as Hawaii) or a not-so-fantastic holiday destination (such as Dubbo).

After Tootbrush finished, Channel Nine kept Tim under their wing to develop new 'pilot,' shows for a while, but they didn't seem to know what to do with his talent, so he was left to sit on the Channel Nine shelf. During this time, however, he wrote his first novel Left, Right and Centre, which was a satire on politics. He also did ads for Nintendo 64 and QLD Keno, as well as hosting several network specials, and the one-off Little Aussie Battlers.

In 1998, Tim was chosen to star as Dr Frank'n'Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, at Sydney's Star City Casino. It ran from July to December and rumours were circulating that it was going to tour Australia, but this never happened. Although Tim enjoyed his role, he has been quoted as saying he probably won't do it again because all the dancing in stilettos was too hard on his back.

Throughout 1998 and 1999, Tim appeared in several of Channel Nine's Super Debates, and in September 1999 he appeared on Channel Ten, on a new series called Unreal TV. It is still running, and is a collection of weird film footage from bizarre shows around the world. Around this time he also hosted Space Cadets on Pay TV's TV1 for a short while.

In 2001, Tim appeared as an 80s weather man in a sitcom that he wrote and produced, called Shock Jocks, on Pay TV's TV1.
