The Early Bird's Eye View of Beyond 2000 - by Perry

Despite being an early bird getting a much better view than thousands of other fans, still I think the concert logistically is one terribly big mess. If not for the overwhelming support from Beyond fans, it would not have been so successful. This is afterall a small scale one by radio stations as compared to major ones like 'Live & Basic' concert. As for the mess done by the organiser, the most used excuse is "What do you expect from a $150 ticket ?"

The early birds got there as early as 3pm and allowed in at 5pm or so to avoid blocking up the road. When we got in, Beyond was rehearsing !!! Wow, that make my $150 really worth it. The whole time Ka Keung was the playful joker. Around 6pm, when they stopped their rehearsal, he asked the audience why we are still not leaving since they have finished. Crazy wasn't he?

Then it was the long eager wait for the real thing. While waiting, we get to see the arrivals of some 'stars' and Ka Keung's parents, uncle, auntie, sister, cousins, the whole jim gang passing us to the VIP area.

After the long wait, 2 indie bands performed. Really, I was so impatient to bother which is Virus and Tat Flip and please don't ask me what they sang. Finally, the moment arrived, Beyond was driven in on a tanker. Whoever's idea it was, it was so silly. On the stage was Ah In with the guitar, Siu Wan on percussion and Yun Zai on keyboard, so that makes 6 of them. They started off the concert at almost 8.45pm with 'Corrupt The Young'.

Imagine 12,000 people in a half-enclosed place with no air-con facilities, it was HOT!. In the middle of the concert, Ka Keung asked whether are we enjoying ourselves, the reply was of course "YES!!". Next he asked "Lay day um sun foo ka meh?" and everyone yelled back "HO YIK AH!!" (sorry, no translation for non-Cantonese fans)
(Rach says: KK said something equivalent to, aren't you all very tired, and i think the fans said they were very hot. I think that's what it means)

While Ka Keung jokes with the audience, Paul talks more seriously that nite. He said that they didn't really plan on which songs to sing and as it's a small scale concert, they just randomly jammed a few songs, they'd put more thought into songs selection on a bigger scale concert in the future.

Those who are at the front getting the good standing positions are 80% guys, whatever happened to all the gals? Nobody were rowdy but well-disciplined and had a real good time. Since it wasn't really a rock concert (that was the disappointing thing about it), so no crazy stuffs from the audience. Still we enjoy it very much and were gladly 'high'. The main set back of the concert was the damned sound system, which at times, I couldn't make out what they were even singing and all those fans' singing were louder.

The whole thing finished at about 11pm. The encore songs were of course 'Sea & Sky' plus 'Until U R Here'. It was like snowing when they rain down white confetti onto the audience, it was an awesome sight and feeling when people yelled and screamed. What a finale.

The early birds then were saying to each other "What a great and enjoyable concert it was." all the way home.

The End.
