The Andromeda Galaxy, M31 lies in the Andromeda constellation (the chained princess). It is the closest major galaxy to the milky way. It was thought to be a nebula by Charles Messier.It is alot like our Milky Way consisting of around 200 billion suns and gas and dust clouds.
It is bright enough to be seen with the unaided eye under a dark sky and with binoculars under a city sky while being one of the most distant objects visibe without any optical aids.
The two little galaxies are elliptical galaxies - M32 is the smaller and more compact one and M110 is the larger one but it's harder to see because it appears more diffused.
