Monday 9:45 pm 15/12/2003  CME ipo traded in a lacklustre manner which was disappointing for stags who have gotten used to gains of more than 50% on opening day.   The next ipo is Hi-P which is a large issue and is priced at $0.57.  PE is near 12 times based on FY 2003 projected results of profit after tax of $35.2 mln.  The issue is expected to be well taken up by funds.  Meanwhile markets around the world may rejoice at the capture of Saddam but the focus could shift back to real economic issues later this week.

Thursday 27/11/2003 9:15 pm Another IPO Bright Orient will be traded tomorrow. The issue size is 39 mln and priced at $0.27.  The company manufactures ties and uniforms and has a market cap of $33 mln. Four funds took up more than 10 mln shares of the placement shares and this may serve to indicate an better than expected opening tomorrow. Banks shares made gains today despite some profit-taking during the day. High end tech stocks such as Chartered and Creative did well and momentum stays strong.  The US markets are closed tonight for the Thanksgiving holidays.  Expect guidance from the other Asian markets tomorrow.

Monday 13/10/2002 9:15 pm Another good start for the week, with penny stocks hogging the headlines. Vikay leads with gains to 0.145. PCA came out with decent earnings for the half year and may catch up with the rest of the tech counters. Chartered may strong gains and trend stays firm on charts. Penny stocks such as Jadason, Thakral, AEM-Ever, Adroit etc stays on upward bias.  TT Intl breaks from wedge pattern.  Blue chips are also on upward bias with Venture reversing recent downward bias.

Friday 10/10 6:15 am With telco stocks in US doing well and Intel giving a better outlook for the qtr, telco stocks may stay in demand. Laggards such as Pac Cent and Mediaring (which is into voip) may see some interest when chart point breaks. Next IPOs are EMDI which is priced at 0.26 and MegaChem which is priced at 0.28.

Tuesday 23/9/03 7:15 pm The play on tech stocks continues unabated with Ellipsiz, Allied Tech, Cheong Woh hogging the top volume list.  Devotion eco-termal is also active.  Tomorrow's IPO is CHT which is an adhesive tape manufacturer.  Issue oversubsciption pales in comparison to A Sonic.  The US market is expected to look to brokerage results for their guidelines.

Sunday 08:45 pm The coming week is expected to be focussed on IPO issues such as CHT and China Food.  Laggards are seeing a new lease of life and with blue chips taking a breather, penny stocks which have not 'moved' could see some activity.  Over in the US, stimulus from brokerage stocks may move Dow higher and the generally feeling is that the uptrend is intact.  CHT is an adhesive and tape manufacturer and is priced at $0.46. China food is priced at $0.22.

Friday 05/09 5:00 am What can stop this rally? That's the question that is raised time and again. With cuts in CPF and worsening employment, some may wonder whether this is truly a bull run.  For bulls, what matters are higher stock prices as buying fever feeds upon itself.  Liquidity is an important factor for stock markets and as it stands, cash is still plenty and interest in IPOS and placement are evidence of this fact. Meanwhile interest in recent IPOs such as EZRA and Singpu continues as the break former highs.
