On 28th September 2002 our lives went through a sea-change, something that we have been looking forward to since the beginning of this year, something which would fill our minds with apprehensions and worries whenever we pondered over it.

On that lucky Saturday when little Tanmay stepped into our lives at K.D.Care Hospital, Indore little did we realize that the entire focus of our lives would undergo a momentous shift. How do we feel? The elation follows later, at first you experience an urgent sense of responsibility and carefulness. Returning back to home brings along worries, will we be good parents? Which way is the right way to hold him, when is his cry a hunger-cry and when an SOS for nappy-change, every minute (especially for the mom) is a critical decision making moment. All-in-all I would say we only realize the effort our parents invested in us after we ourselves become a parent.

A unique aspect of Mitali's pregnancy was that all throughout we kept on wondering -- would I have a son or a daughter -- thanks to the legal restrictions on sonography. Tanmay's arrival was thus a suspense thriller in real sense.

On that evening when I held my newborn son and stared into his eyes my thoughts traversed into the future. I wondered what sort of person this little boy would grow up to become. It was indeed an overpowering feeling to realize that I had stepped into fatherhood. Thanks Mitali, your this gift is the best one I ever got.
