Have you ever noticed how excited people get when you ask if you can ask them a question?  "Yes?!"  They perk right up there!  They wonder, "what could she want to ask me?".  They think to themselves, "I must be the authority on this subject or I wouldn't be asked this pointedly."  The question itself has a high chance of being at least a little disappointing because by the time it's actually asked, there has been so much anticipation built up that anything short of, "scrambled or fertilized?" is bound to let anyone down.  All the same, isn't it a kick to just go around asking people everything?  "Have you ever drempt of a yak?"  "Are you currently using dandruff shampoo?"  "What's your take on Social Darwinism?"  "What's your favorite flavor of bouillon?"  "Why don't we talk anymore?"
