Erin Cardiz, Was A Beautiful and Vibrant Woman. Whom was full of life, Love, Feminine Poise, Grace and Charm. Her Smile was so Radiant, that what ever problems you had just went away. She always had a kind word and always made you feel as if you belonged. I miss just talking with her seeing her email letters in my email box. She was far better than I and the World is a much worse place without her in it. I only wish that she were here with us now, we are the poorer without her.

STASHA Was born on March 24, 1969 in Houston Texas, along with her twin sister.until She moved to Southern California and enrolled at UCLA. Where she started doing Something about Her Transgenderism. She Was Later diagnosed with leukemia in 1992, and died of the disease in April 1993.

Stasha, as she was known to many. But she was more than her fame. She was A Wonderful, sensitive and compassionate humanbeing. Bright eyed with and a Angels smile and a heart filled with love. She left this world before she could fully realize either. Like Most of us she fell into the Adult Entertainment industry but this did not make her less of a good person or a person I was proud to know for a short while then we lost touch. She left behind a sister that she loved and whom loved her. We will never know what she may have been or done? If she was still with us. But somewhere there is someone whom is wishing she were here. So they could say I love you! or I'm Sorry too her one more time. We all have someone we wish could say that too again. But since we cannot we remember, so let us remember well. For in our remembering She lives on, They all live on.

McKinney then pistol-whipped the defenseless Matthew: His skull had been gashed in four spots. His nose was broken. The skin on his head and face was cut in 18 places. Some cuts went to the bone. The killers left Matthew to die a slow, agonizing death, hanging from the now infamous fence, alone in the freezing night. He was found, barely alive, 18 hours later by a cyclist. Matthew died October 12, 1998 from massive head injuries. after being taken by Ambulance to a hospital where doctors were unable to save him.

Despite experiencing the worst anti-gay attack in U.S. history, Virginia's hate crimes law does not include sexual orientation, and proposals to add sexual orientation to the law have been repeatedly defeated by the Virginia General Assembly.

MURDERED - In December 1995, Roxanne Ellis and Michelle Abdill, a lesbian couple from Medford, Oregon were shot to death execution style. The two women had worked to defeat a statewide measure to limit the rights of homosexuals. The women disappeared December 4 after Ellis showed their assassin, Robert James Acrement, 27, an apartment for rent. They were each shot in the head, execution style, and their bodies were found bound and gagged three days later in Ellis' pickup truck.

MURDERED - In December 1993, Brandon, a transgendered male, was shot to death, along with two others, by John Lotter and Marvin Thomas Nissen. One week before the killing, the duo raped Brandon as punishment for living his life as a man, and they threatened to kill him if he went to the police. Brandon, expecting the police would protect him, reported the assault. Richardson County Sheriff Charles B. Laux not only notified the rapists of Brandon’s complaint, but took no steps to protect him, despite his agreement to assist the sheriff and strong evidence that his life was in danger. Sheriff Laux, who had been abusive and accusatory while interviewing Brandon about the rape, even forbade a deputy from arresting Brandon's rapists. Sheriff Laux's homophobic bias and neglect of duty resulted in the deaths of three people. The critically acclaimed film,“Boys Don’t Cry” and the documentary, “The Brandon Teena Story,” chronicle the tragic events that led to Brandon’s death.

MURDERED - Oct. 27, 1992: Allen was brutally beaten to death in a public restroom in Sasebo, Japan, by two of his shipmates, Terry Helvey and Charles Vins. They beat and stomped Schindler to death because Schindler was gay. Their attack was so vicious that they destroyed every organ in Schindler’s body. Allen's mother, Mrs. Dorothy Hadjys-Holman, could identify her son only by the remains of the tattoos on his arms. The medical examiner compared Schindler’s injuries to those sustained by victims of a fatal airplane crash or a high-speed automobile accident - all but two of Schindler's ribs had been broken, his penis bore cut marks and his liver contained holes that allowed the pathologist to see straight through it . Killer Helvey, the day after the slaying, said he "hated homosexuals" and was "disgusted by them." On killing Schindler, Helvey added: "I don't regret it. I'd do it again. ... He deserved it."

SUICIDE - March 14, 2000: Michelle committed suicide one week after suffering a brutal beating and rape by a man enraged by her transgendered appearance. Her rapist remains at large. She had been brutally beaten and raped one week prior to her death. The rapist fractured 2 of her ribs, her genitalia were badly bruised and swollen secondary to his kicks. Her rectum was ripped secondary to the rape and required several stitches. Her right eye was badly bruised. He left her badly beaten and terrified. O'Hara lay in the alleyway for several hours until a passerby heard her and assisted her until the ambulance arrived. She was taken to the hospital and was treated with indifference by the hospital staff because of her transgendered status. The police were also less than sympathetic. The event, according to those close to her, took away her will to live

Unnamed infant with ambiguous genitalia: S/He was allegedly killed by the child's mother in Dallas Texas on December 8th, 1999. The baby was three days old, and died of blunt force trauma to the head, as well as strangulation. Investigators also found shards of glass in the baby's esophagus and small intestine, possibly indicating that someone initially tried to kill the child by forcing them to eat glass, in an effort to cause internal bleeding.

The dogs had been reported to Police before for attacking people without provocation.

Three men attacked and beat Gwen Araujo, kneed her to the face & strangled her with a rope, and buried her body about 150 miles away after one of the alleged assailants' girlfriend announced that Araujo was a man, according to the police. None of the dozen partygoers who may have witnessed the attack reported it to authorities.

Gwen Araujo dreamed of becoming a Hollywood make up artist. She has been described as a beautiful person both inside and out and always smiling. She always thought of herself as a girl, preferred the name Gwen, and always wanted a sex change. She lived in Newark, CA, a small town 30 miles from San Francisco, the supposed gay mecca of the United States.

At age 14, Gwen had the courage to come out to her parents. She grew out her hair and wore crop tops and women's jeans. Finally, at age 17, she borrowed her friend's miniskirt and her mom's blouse and had the courage to go out in a skirt as herself for the first time.

"[S]he went through a lot of pain, and people didn't respect h[er], her mother, Sylvia Guerrero, said. "It took a lot of guts. [S]he's strong, and [s]he finally came out."

Gwen went to a house party introduced as "Lida," and passed as a beautiful girl. That is until Paul Merel's girlfriend discovered in the bathroom that she was transsexual, and announced it at the party. Authorities say that Michael William Magidson, 22, Jose Antonio Merel, 22, and Jaron Chase Nabors, 19, punched Gwen in the face, beat her, gashing her face, and then dragged her to a garage while she was semi-conscious and strangled her with rope until she was killed. The men then allegedly tied her wrists and ankles, wrapped her in a bedsheet, and drove her body to Silver Fork Campground, about 100 miles away in El Dorado County.

Paul Richard Merel Jr., 25, Paul Merel's brother, was also arrested with the others, but released Friday. Magidson, Paul Merel, and Nabors are charged with murder and also face a hate-crime enhancement.A candlelight vigil was held for Gwen by 100 friends and family members on Friday evening. This is yet another case in the trend of violence against the transgender community, and, more disturbingly, escalating murders of transgendered youth. In Washington, D.C. last August, Stephanie Thomas, 19, and Ukea Davis, 18, to transgendered girls, were both shot dead in their car. Last year, a 16-year-old transgender Navajo teen named Fred Martinez Jr., who wore makeup and carried a purse, was killed in Cortez, Colorado. In 1999, 19-year-old transsexual Alina Marie Barragan was strangled to death in San Jose.

The public needs to be educated about transgenderism and transgender oppression, and these killings must stop. Transgendered related murders happen over once a month. For an attempt at the most complete list of transgender murders, visit remembering our dead.

The media has been fairly ignorant about this story. The story has gotten a lot of press, which is good, but Gwen is always referred to as he, when she was clearly transsexual. Many versions of the story also say that Gwen was beaten once her "true gender" was discovered. Gwen's "true gender" was female--it was her sex that was discovered, and many would even object to the idea that Gwen's biological sex was male.----Something that she saught to correct.

Gay activist Wiggsy Silversteen was quoted as saying, "We really have a responsibility to be very vocal, particularly with cross- dressing boys, that this is a dangerous world for them." While this is true, the lesson to be learned from this tragedy is not that we should scold and scare crossdressing boys. The solution is not to blame the victim, to tell teens to stop crossdressing. The lesson is that we need more education, more visibility, more writing and more activism to make this a safer world for all trans youth and transgendered people.

Winner of the 1977 Miss Gay America pageant, the longest-running female impersonator competition in North America.Whom appeared in many television series, and Television & Big Screen Movies Starred in The 1983 Television Premeire Movie Mike Hammers "Murder Me, Murder You"--With Co-stars Stacy Keech and Delta Burke.

Michael Andrews, Miss Gay America 1977, would go on to become one of the most admired female impersonators in the industry. Noted for his incomparable illusion of Ann-Margaret, Andrews performed regularly with the various La Cage review shows. Andrews would later find work in motion pictures, appearing in such films as "Malibu Summer," "Surrender," and "Avenging Angel." In 1988, Michael Andrews captured the Miss Gay USofA title, becoming one of only two Miss Gay America title holders to hold both crowns. We at Norma Kristie, Inc. and Gay America Pageants salute the artistry of Michael Androlewicz, known to many friends and fans as Michael Andrews, Miss Gay America 1977. Androlewicz passed this life in July of 1989.

Transwoman Killed in Cleveland

According to a source with the "Gay People’s Chronicle," the body of Chareka Keys, a transgendered woman, was found on a loading dock at the corner of Central and 69th streets in Cleveland Ohio on the morning of September 27th.

Although details are sketchy at this time, police have listed this as a murder, and give the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to her head. There are, as of yet, no suspects in this murder. The Cleveland police are looking for any information about this case that they can get, and the homicide department can be contacted at 623-5464.

Venus Xtravaganza, one of the pre-operative male to female transsexuals in "Paris Is Burning," states demurely, "I would like to be a spoiled rich white girl. They get what they want, whenever they want it ." Her desire to identify with and become a "spoiled rich white girl" is problematized by the fact that she is a poor Latino male sex worker who hires herself out for dates in order to afford shoes. Venus's desire to be "the impossible" is an instance in which the political directly factors into identification-formation, contrary to Freud's analysis which does not account for power dynamics or experiences based on race and class. Race, class and sexual orientation inflect psychoanalytic processes, or as Judith Butler suggests, bodies matter. In the context of the film, bodies matter very much: by the end, Venus has been killed by a male escort, probably because he found out that her gender did not correspond with her anatomical sex. When Venus says, "I want a car. I want to be with the man I love. I want a nice home. I want my sex change. I want to be a complete woman,"
