When the flag is flying, the Queen is in the castle.  The Queen usually stays there on Sundays.  The band (above) always plays for the Queen on Sundays.  We got to see extra parts of the castle most visitors don't get to see because the fire alarms went of and we had to exit through the emergency exit - which was a stairwell and entrance guests visiting the Queen for parties usually use.  We didn't see the Queen though.
