The year was 1985 when Disney first set foot on the seas, as it gave a cruise company its right to use Disney characters on their ships. After nearly a decade, Disney saw that many people liked the combination of Disney and a cruise. So the creative minds began planning.
In 1998 Disney's Magic sailed the Caribbean for the first time. The Disney Cruiseline was born and a new form of family entertainment was founded. The best of Disney brought to life in this luxerious ship. A few years later the second ship, Disney's Wonder, sailed the Caribbean. Both ships were build by an Italian shipyard in Venice, Italy.

Both ships port at Cape Canaveral in Florida. From there they make three, four, seven or even ten day cruises through the Caribbean.
Stops are made at Nassau and Freeport (on the Bahamas), Grand Cayman (Britsh West Indies), Conzumel, St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Disney's own private island, Castaway Cay.

In 2005 the Disney Magic will sail for a short period through the Panama Canal to California. There it will start a limited series of cruises from L.A. to Mexico. This is all planned in the celebration of Disneyland's 50th birthday!
