Birds
on planet earth. first
came inscets , in the unimaginly
distant past. for over 100 million years or more they ruled
the skies. but these were mere pioneers of the air. thank of
them, in VIATION TERMS, as the fimsy open-cockpit planes
of the early 20th century
then, serval hunderd million years ago,
huge nd often terrifing new life forms, pterosaurs, of fluing dinosaurs, took
the ascendancy. these massiv creatures had wings of skin, streched between one
enormously elongated
finger and their flanks. around 150 million years ago they
were joinded by - or, as many scientists say, they begen to
turn into - a much more aerodynamic, feathered creature. the bird was born.
and so the flimsy biplane cdede
aerial mastrey to nature`s mny equivalents of the boeing 767, concorde, the b25
bomber, the steth fighter. a huge variety of ancient bird types hane come and
gone and evolved to gine us the 9000 different species we know today.
many scietists are convinced
that birds evolved from the dinosaurs. numerous finds in recent years have
seemed to sopport the hypothesis that birds descended from two-legged, running
dinosaurs
