The day after the swim meet, the group decides they have two missions coming up. The caverns where the zombies disappeared and confronting Dylan. Their research of the town and the caverns reveals that shortly after the town was founded a series of catacombs were discovered running under the town. The catacombs are mentioned in books from early in the town history but not in later volumes. They plan on checking on the caverns the next morning when its light so they figure they have to attend mass that evening.
After the service, Dylan's roommate approaches Shawn and tells him about some weird things that have been happening with Dylan lately. While Mark is explaining this to Shawn, the others notice Dylan coming out from an alley near the church, having overheard the conversation. When Shawn returns to the group, they let him know that Dylan may have heard what was said.
Shawn heads to Dylan's dorm to find out what's going on. When he gets there, he notices that Dylan's floor is quiet. While all the other floors are playing music, this one is quiet. When he asks someone why there is no music, they say that its against the rules. Shawn thinks this is strange and when he asks the Father later if there has been a change of rules on campus regarding playing music, the Father says that the rules haven't changed.
Later on while in the Dorm, the group hears the sound of an ambulance siren on campus. They head out to find out what happened. In the center of campus they find the body of Mark up in a tree. Shawn, angered by this turn of events, heads straight for Dylan's room. The group follows him and they end up confronting Dylan. Jason threatens him and ends up getting stabbed with his own sword by something.
They escape, and after some research they find a spell that Misty can use to make something invisible and intangible both visible and solid. Father Cullen also found out that Dylan has always had a history of strange behaviour and that recently his older brother was killed in an accident. They come up with a plan to lure Dylan to the library and if its Dylan as a telekenitic, they would explain to him what he was doing, and if it was something else, they would be able to fight it with the spell that Misty found.
In the library, while waiting for Dylan to arrive, the group is suddenly attacked by something invisible. As soon as Misty is able to start the spell, Dylan's brother appears in front of them. He tells them that they will not hurt Dylan if he's around. As the next part of the spell takes effect, a Demon appears in front of them. When Jason attacks the Demon, it uses its powers to pull Sharon in front of itself to protect it and this angers Jason. Shawn is able to somehow pull Sharon away. They attack the Demon, and show Dylan what was really helping him. He pulls away from the Demon and the group is able to defeat it. Sharon pours some Holy Water on Jason's sword and it is able to destroy the Demon.
Doing some research they discover that the Demon was in fact a Soul Gatherer. This type of Demon attaches itself to an individual and drains their lifeforce over time. It will protect their food source like a mother protecting its cub. Now that the Demon is destroyed, Dylan is able to get the help that he needs.
