May 1777: Tarken Marsten establishes his saw mill in the area that will become Tarken's Mill. Over the next year more people move to the area to both work in the sawmill and farm the local area. | |||||||||||||||

May 19th, 1780: A mysterious darkness covers much of New England. The origin of the darkness is never discovered. The darkness last until the middle of the night and the skies are back to normal the next day. | |||||||||||||||
May 1785: Tarken's Mill becomes the name of the village. Shortly after officially becoming a township, Tarken Marsten dies in a boating accident. His widow, Sarah (Barnes) Marsten, takes over the business until their oldest son is old enough to run the mill. | |||||||||||||||
May 26th 1947: A fire sweeps through the town, destroying many of the buildings but not one life was lost. | |||||||||||||||
