Tasha's Story
Tasha was arrested Aug. 13, 1997, almost 3 months after the death of the child.  Her bail was set at $250,000. She sat in the Harrison County, Mississippi, jail until she went to trial in June of 2000, almost 3 years after the death of the child.  Her charge and arrest were based on circumstantial evidence including an autopsy that did not  focus on the picture as a whole. The attorneys did an awesome job (we felt, at the time) in the cross-examination of the prosecution's witnesses, but completely dropped the ball when it came time for the defense. There were several witnesses not called that could have helped exonerate her (for example, the child's pediatrician) - in fact, there was only one major witness called on her behalf. Is one witness any kind of a defense? The prosecution did not prove anything except that this child died. There were a lot of insinuations - mostly about this being an abused child, but they were not proven, let alone that Tasha was the abuser. We do not believe that he was even abused.
