Personal Protests
Many Australian entertainers have protested this war against Iraq at one voice for peace

Sometimes we have to take a stand for what we believe in.

A Tasmanian Pensioner did this on March 24 by rejecting any further age pension payments.

Bob from Riverside is disgusted that the Australian Government made the decision to go to war against Iraq without proper consultation with either the Australian Parliament or the Australian People.

The Prime Minister,John Howard merely had a breakfast meeting with his senior cabinet after being told what to do by the President of The
United States of America.

Bob's Letter to the Minister for Social Security and the Department is below.
24 March 2003

The Minister for Social Security
Parliament House
Canberra

Dear Minister
I was born a British Subject in New Zealand in 1932 but have lived 68 years in Australia. I have paid taxes all my working life and was granted Australian Citizenship in 1982.

Because of the Howard Coalition Government's cowardly and vindictive treatment of refugees and its willing part in waging a brutal, immoral and illegal war against the almost defenceless people of Iraq I have cancelled the payment of my Age Pension from this date.
