Natural Aperfection
Imperfect nature within us all lays
Like the peacock’s dazzlings for his mate.
Form Follows Function, consider always;
That beautiful bird drags his tail most days-
For small moment’s pride, must suffer their weight.
Imperfect nature within us all lays.
His bright tail tells strength through his dancing craze,
To goggle eyed females, his fitness’ bait.
Form Follows Function, consider always.
“Beware of the Serpent,” so goes the phrase;
Hold tight ‘round his neck, and glorify hate.
Imperfect nature within us all lays.
Viper lacks legs, thus, on his stomach lays,
While brittle boned dove uplifts in her flight.
Form Follows Function, consider always;
Not even your Lark for the Serpent prays,
Nor for scavengers, dank dutied by night.
Form Follows Function, consider always:
Imperfect nature within us all lays
-I recognize that Aperfection is not a word. The prefix “a-” is Greek for “not” in a passive sense as in “agnostic,” or “amoral.” This is different than the prefix “im-” as in immoral” or “immaterial,” which has the connotation of a “definite not.” Here, “aperfection” means that imperfection is intrinsic to life because there is not true perfection.
