THIS IS PITA'S PLACE!

And I'm Pita!!!

I'm a RESCUE PUG

I was born somewhere in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains a few years ago. There's no one who loved me enough to remember so we're not sure how old I really am but I celebrate my birthday now on December 21st - that's the day I arrived at my Forever Home.  So let's say I'm "one and a bit" because my life really began when I met Christine.

My sister and I had lived with some very nasty people who abused us - we didn't know we were being abused - we thought all pugs were beaten and burned and that's just the way life was for pugs.  But one day a nice man named Rodney (who rescues pugs), found us and took us away from there.  My sister was very sick and instead of coming to live with us, she went to a special place in Heaven called Rainbow Bridge.  For a long time after that I stayed at Rodney's with a lot of other dogs, including a few pugs just like me.  I was yearning for a home of my own and that made me grumpy sometimes so I had to stay in my crate a lot!

One day Rodney took me aside and whispered in my ear that I would be going on a long journey to a place called "New Brunswick".  I'd never heard of it but Rodney told me that when I got there I was going to have a new life where I'd be the only pug  and would never have to sleep in a crate again.  Yahoo!

He said a lady named Christine was heartbroken because her little pug, Tassie, had also gone to Rainbow Bridge and she was very lonely.  She was looking for a pug - a special pug - a rescue pug - to share her home.  Best of all, when she heard about me, she said I was  THE pug for her.

They talked and talked and talked but finally, after a sleepover with Christine's friend Susan and her dogs Misty and Roxanne (we didn't fight at all!!), on December 21, 2001, I flew almost 2,500 miles from Calgary, Alberta, to Moncton, New Brunswick, where I met Christine for the very first time.

It was love at first sight!  I knew I finally had my Forever Home!

I couldn't believe it -  a  few hours after leaving Calgary behind, I was happily pug-snoring in one of my new beds!  I don't know how many I have but I usually sleep with Christine - we like it that way.  She says I snore but she loves me just the same!  (Snort! Snort!)

Santa sure found me that Christmas and now every day is Christmas Day for me!

So that's the story of how  I went from being a little cowgirl in Western Canada  to a lady of leisure here in the Maritimes!  Now that I'm Boss Pug  and have my very own person all to myself, I'm really having fun!

 I bark - she jumps!!!

Woof!  Woof!
