JUDGEMENT | |||||||||||||||||
The Judgement seat of Christ is the first stop after death 2Cor 5:10 Heb 9:27 It seems like that Judgement determines where you will spend time waiting resurrection, in paradise or with the abode of the wicked. The last resurrection theres the Great White Throne Judgement which takes place in the end and whoever is not written in the Lambs Book of Life is thrown into the lake of fire. It sounds like it is a place of eternal torment because Rev 20:10-15 Also see Rev 19:20 One demon was worried that he would be tormented before the time Matt 8:29. Jesus said it would be better for Judas if he was never born. If the lake of fire was not a place of conscious torment he couldn't say that because not being born is not conscious or in existance and he said that was better for him if he wasn't born Matt 26:24. Some fallen angels are already in a place of darkness and torment 2Pet 2:4 (tartarus) Jesus said don't fear those who can only kill your body but rather fear Him who is able to destory both soul and body in hell (gehenna) Jesus used terms to explain it as darkness,weeping and gnashing of teeth, and fire. Matt 25:30-46 Matt 13:37-50 Matt 8:12 Matt 5:22 Jude 7 Gehenna=The valley of Hinnon,a pit which refuse was dumped and executed criminals was thrown. It was said they were burned alive there. The word is used 13 times in the New Testament and usually translated as hell fire. It is the place of ever lasting future punishment. It is the same as the lake of fire. Hadies = Is the Greek word used for the unseen place or state of departed souls with one place being a paradise Lk 23:43 The other must be the abode for the wicked see Lk 16:19-31 Even the Jews believe that there is a side for the righteous and side for the wicked. Acts 2:31 grave and hell. It is found in the New Testament only. Tartarus = 2 Pet 2:4 deepest abyss of hades incarcerate in eternal torment. Seems to be angels only here. Sheol = Ps 139:8 Job 21:13 used in the Old Testament 65 times. This was the Hebrew word for the obode of the dead. |
