These Letters were a way for the Church to clean itself. All they had do was heed the reproof that JESUS gave to them. The uniqe thing about these letters to is not only was they written to churches that was in existance at the time but they seem to represent church ages that was to come. Also every true church today should be able to fit in one of these letters. WE as individuals are part of the body of Christ and therefore also the Church. Its my oppinion that as Christians we will fit into one of these letters. Idealy it would be better to be of the Church who had no Reproof like Philadelphia ,rather than being like the one who was active for the church and but not active for JESUS,or being involved in fornifications,or worshiping idols such as statures of saints or mother mary,or like the one that was just spiritualy dead, or like the luke warm church that will be left be hind at the rapture. I have had several great Christian freinds die already of health problems.One of Lupus and another of Cancer. They were both active for the LORD and loved him the day i met them and the day they died. They were faithful. They let there light shine before people. You would not have to known them long to know that they were Christians and loved JESUS . They would be Christians who were of the Church of Smyrna. They were being tested and even though there health failed them they passed the test. They were faithful until death. Jesus says that they will receive the Crown of LIfe and not be hurt of the 2nd death. So as individuals examine yourself and see what church you would be. Also look at the Church you fellowship at and see what church that they would fall under. AS the churches represent church ages to come. The last state of the church will be rich but lukewarm ,even though the LORD says that there poor, blind and naked.
