Part 25

The very next day Buffy was sitting in a tub filled with rose scented water. She felt relaxed and rested. Cordelia tapped on the door and stepped into the room.

"Better get out and get dressed. You are about to meet Angelus' parents. It seems that as soon as they got word about you they headed our way."

Buffy groaned, "Just what I needed. Oh well guess I had better find something decent to wear."

Buffy slipped on a dark blue wool blend skirt. Next she put on a pale blue sweater shell with a matching sweater jacket. Cordelia stepped back and nodded.

"Nice, elegant but not understated it says you have taste and a sense of style."

A light knock on the door got their attention. Cordelia turned to the door as she spoke to Buffy, "Put on those black pumps."

Buffy sat down and slipped on the shoes Cordelia told her to wear. Cordelia opened the door to find Giles standing there.

"Rupert come on in Buffy is dressed. Thank goodness the only thing blue today is her clothes."

Rupert smiled, "Ah yes she is near the end of the change. She will mostly be very hungry from now on."

Buffy stood up, "Well, how do I look?"

Rupert smiled, "Very nice. Come now they are waiting for you."

Buffy was very nervous about meeting Angelus' parents. She turned to Rupert.

"Is Angelus with his folks?"

Rupert shook his head, "No he is preparing for tomorrow."

Buffy hesitated, "You mean I have to meet them without him being there I am not happy about that."

Rupert smiled, "Actually it's customary to do so."

Rupert shook his head, "Look you asked where he was at. Truthfully he is meeting your folks at the moment."

Buffy grinned slightly, "Oh then he knows how I am feeling then."

Rupert stopped at the bottom of the stairs, "You don't have to curtsey or do anything of that sort. Just be yourself and smile."

Buffy took a deep breath, "Thank goodness cuz if I did I'd fall flat on my face or worse."

Rupert patted her hand, "Ready?"

Buffy nodded, "Guess so."

Rupert led her to the small patio. She could see a rather nice looking couple. The man was pacing slightly. Buffy could see where Angelus got his height and dark good looks. His Mother was very beautiful with honey colored hair.

Rupert and Buffy stepped out onto the patio. The man stopped pacing and turned to face them.

Rupert smiled, "Eleanor and Samuel Delamater I want you to meet Buffy Summers."

Eleanor went over to Buffy, "My you are beautiful. I can see why you caught Angelus' attention."

Buffy smiled, "Thank you."

Samuel joined his wife, "He said she was special. He's right I wouldn't be surprised if she isn't one of us."

Eleanor nodded, "You may be right. She is going through the change with ease."

Buffy was trying not to stare at them as they spoke. Rupert cleared his throat.

"Yes, no matter a meal has been prepared so why don't we partake of it."

Eleanor turned to Rupert, "That would be nice and I bet Buffy would love to have something to eat I remember how hungry I was after Samuel claimed me."

Rupert smiled, "Right this way then."

They followed Rupert to the dining room. A feast was spread out on the table. Buffy noticed several servants hurrying around making sure everything was perfect.

Part 26

Angelus swallowed nervously as he, Anya and Doyle approached the Summers' home. He was wondering how this meeting was going to end up.

Anya knocked on the door, when Joyce opened it she smiled at her, "Hello Mrs. Summers."

Joyce looked Anya and her two companions over, "What's going on Anya you called and said you had something important to speak to me about. Then about twenty minutes ago my ex husband showed up saying he was asked to come to Sunnydale for an important meeting about Buffy?"

Anya nodded, "Well, invite us in and I'll try and explain it all."

Joyce opened the door wider, "Of course please do come in."

After they had entered the house. Joyce closed the door. She was looking the men over.

"Hank is in the living room."

They followed Joyce into the living room. Hank stepped forward and held out his hand.

"Hello I am Hank Summers, Buffy's Father and I must say a bit curious as to why I was summoned here."

Anya glanced at Doyle who gave a slight nod she took a deep breath, "Okay um these men are from my country. The tall good looking one is Angelus Delamater and this is his friend Doyle. Angelus is also my cousin. As to why we are here you see Angelus here has asked Buffy to marry him and she said yes. It is customary with our people that the intended ones meet each others family without the other there."

Hank was staring at Angelus, "You're a Delamater and you wish to marry my daughter what if I won't allow it?"

Angelus stared at Hank, "You know who I am and where I'm from?"

Hank nodded, "My Grandmother was from there she left because she didn't want to marry who her family had arranged for her to marry. She helped raise me and she told me all about where she was from and the Delamaters."

Angelus smiled, "Then you know of mordere, correct?"

Hank gave a slight shake of his head, "Yes, are you saying you have already claimed Buffy?"

Angelus nodded, "That I have and she is near the end of the change."

Hank sighed, "Then there is nothing I can do to stop you from taking her."

Angelus shook his head, "No there is nothing. I do love Buffy and I can understand your concern but she will be fine."

Joyce was listening to all this with a frown, "I don't understand."

Hank turned to Joyce, "It's very complicated let's just meet with Angelus and later I will explain everything to you."

Anya smiled, "Oh good we don't have to take time to do all that now I do believe that we were all going out to lunch."

Anya's chirppy statement eased the tension in the room. Angelus pulled Anya aside as everyone went outside.

"If what Hank says is true then Xander is one of us. He is Xander's biological Father."

Anya grinned, "Wow okay after all is done with you and Buffy I can explain things to Xander and have him meet Rupert."

Angelus smiled, "Things will work out."

They went and joined the others outside.

Part 27

After lunch Buffy followed Angelus' folks to the patio. Rupert joined them.

Rupert cleared his throat, "Tonight at midnight is when Angelus and Buffy shall began the mating ritual."

Buffy felt herself blush. Eleanor noticed and smiled, "Dear do not feel uncomfortable this is a wonderful and natural process in life. It gives us pleasure. It gives us new life."

Samuel spoke up, "Yes I think what Rupert is trying to say is that a binding ceremony must take place before midnight. Since we don't have time for a huge elaborate celebration a simple ritual will be performed. We will honor it in our country as a true binding between the two of them. Later after the mating a wedding can take place making their union legal here in the United States. After we return home we will have a festival to celebrate the marriage."

Rupert smiled, "Yes thank you Samuel I was trying to say that. I would assume that by now Angelus has met with Buffy's family. We need to have everyone gather here to discuss the binding ritual."

Eleanor nodded, "Why of course the ritual will take place in the hour before midnight. I brought with me the traditional gown to be worn by the bride. Also I brought what Angelus will wear."

Rupert chuckled, "You think of everything don't you sister?"

Eleanor smiled, "Somebody has to."

Buffy stood up, "I can call Angelus on my Mom's cell phone she takes it with her everywhere."

Rupert nodded, "Good idea go right ahead."

Buffy smiled, "Okay be right back."

Buffy had spotted a phone tucked away not too far from the front door. She quickly dialed her Mom's cell phone. Buffy almost smiled when she heard her Mother's voice. Yep she had her phone with her.

Buffy side of the conversation, "Mom when you're done with lunch we need all of you here where Angelus has been staying."

A pause then, "Oh Angelus yes everything went smoothly they want all of you here to discuss a simple binding ritual."

Another pause, "Okay in about 20 minutes you'll be here I'll let them know, bye."

Buffy hung up the phone. She hurried back to the patio.

"Angelus said they should be here in about 20 minutes or so."

Rupert gave her a smile, "Ah good."

Eleanor stood up, "Come with me Buffy and I will show you the gown. Only a few little nip and tucks and it shall fit you perfectly."

Turning to Rupert "When they get here have Buffy's Mother come up to the room I am using it's the huge one at the end of the hall on the third floor. A wonderful room full of all kinds of antiques which I just fell in love with."

Rupert nodded, "Of course I will do that."

The two men watched as Eleanor led Buffy into the house.

Part 28

Everyone was gathered for a light dinner that evening. After the meal Hank went with Samuel, Rupert and Angelus into the library and shut the door.

Joyce followed Cordelia, Buffy and Eleanor upstairs to prepare Buffy for the ceremony that was to take place later on.

The seamstress was just putting the finishing touches on the dress Buffy was to wear. A white gown of the finest cotton trimmed with velvet and lace.

Hank shrugged, "Her name was Elizabeth Talbot and she was to marry a man by the name of Aaron Dupres. She was against the marriage, she couldn't stand Aaron. She fled late one night with the help of her servant. She went to Spain first then on to Australia. While there she met my Grandfather, Luke Summers he was from California and was working at the time for a newspaper as a corespondent. They married and came home to live in Napa Valley here in California."

Samuel sighed, "Aaron was a friend of mine. Hate to say this but she did the right thing. About five years after she left he took a bride. A young girl without much to offer. Two years later she was found dead at the bottom of the stairs in the back hall of their home. Aaron claimed that she fell while he was away but no one believed him. He never remarried and died about ten years later while visiting Italy."

Rupert nodded, "I was a boy when he died it was under mysterious circumstances if I am remembering right."

Samuel gave a slight smile, "As I recall your Grandmother was a beautiful woman and Buffy looks a lot like her. I should have guessed when I met her today. She seemed familiar but it was so long ago."

Hank sighed, "I have to admit I was not pleased when I first met Angelus today. My Grandmother did not speak well of her country."

Samuel shrugged, "I promise you that Buffy will be very well taken care of. She will lack nothing."

Hank smiled, "I can tell that Angelus cares deeply for her and she feels the same way."

Angelus smiled, "I do love her."

Upstairs:

With help from Cordelia, Buffy was getting ready. Joyce and Eleanor watched making sure she was perfect.

Eleanor sighed, "I was so afraid when Angelus came here that he would get into trouble. He was so unhappy at home, he wanted adventure. I thought about stopping him but realized it would only make matters worse. Now I am glad he came for he found Buffy."

A slight knock on the door. Eleanor went and opened it.

"Ah Doyle is it time?"

Doyle smiled, "In about ten minutes bring Buffy downstairs."

Eleanor nodded, "Fine."

Downstairs:

Angelus was pacing in front of the huge fireplace. His Father watched slightly amused at his son's nervousness.

Doyle walked up, "Just told Eleanor ten minutes."

Angelus sighed, "Good any longer and I think I'd go crazy."

A few minutes later:

Eleanor came downstairs, "Everyone places please. Hank come over here and escort Buffy to Angelus' side."

Hank went over to the bottom of the stairs. Angelus joined his Father, Rupert, Doyle and the Mage who was to perform the ceremony in front of the fireplace.

Cordelia followed by Joyce came down the stairs. They went and stood with Eleanor.

Buffy stopped on the bottom step. She smiled at her Father as he held out his arm for her to take. With a slight tremble she placed her hand on his arm. He gave her hand a reassuring pat.

Hank escorted her to where the men were waiting.

The Mage smiled, "Do you willingly bring your daughter to be joined with Angelus from this day forward?"

Hank nodded, "Yes."

The Mage turned to Samuel, "Do you accept this girl as the mate for your son from this day forward?"

Samuel grinned, "Yes."

The Mage turned to Buffy, "Do you wish to be joined with Angelus to be his mate from this day forward?"

Buffy sighed, "Yes."

The Mage turned to Angelus, "Is Buffy the girl you wish to take as your mate from this day forward?"

Angelus nodded, "Yes."

The Mage: "Please step forward and join hands with Angelus."

Buffy smiled at Angelus as she went to him. He held out his hands as she held out hers. They clasped each others hands.

The Mage smiled, "These two have agreed to be mates from this day until death do part them. Is there anyone here who thinks this should not happen?"

Angelus and Buffy stared at each other during the brief silence.

The Mage: "So be it these two are to be joined. They shall not know no other."

The Mage turned to Angelus, "Do promise to love, honor and keep yourself true to Buffy? To accept what is good in her? To accept her faults? To take care of her when she is well and when she is ill? Do you enter into this agreement with full knowledge of what is expected of you as her mate?"

Angelus smiled, "Yes, I promise to be true to Buffy and I do so with an honest heart."

The Mage turned to Buffy, "Do you promise to do the same to love honor and keep yourself to Angelus? To accept what is good in him? To accept his faults? To take care of him when he is well and when he is sick? Do you enter into this agreement with full knowledge of what is expected of you as his mate?"

Buffy glanced at Angelus and smiled, "Yes, I promise to be true to Angelus to be his mate and I do so with an honest heart."

The Mage smiled, "I declare in front of these witnesses that these two are now and forever mated that they shall know other as long as they both shall live. Let no one come between them. Angelus and Buffy you may now go and begin your life as two united as one."

Angelus took Buffy into his arms and kissed her. She wrapped her arms around his neck and returned the kiss. With a sigh Angelus picked Buffy up in his arms and headed up the stairs.

Part 29

Angelus carried Buffy into the bedroom he'd been using when he first arrived in town. Doyle and Cordelia together had prepared the room with all their needs in mind. A huge four poster bed had been moved into the room.

Buffy woke up to the smell of food. Bacon she was smelling bacon. Sitting up she found Angelus dressed in just a pair of sweats standing in front of o ne of the tables. Several plates of food were set out.

"Where did that come from?"

Angelus smiled, "I called Doyle and he just delivered it. Come on and eat while it's still hot."

Buffy spotted a robe laying on the bed grabbing it she slipped it on before joining Angelus at the table.

"Smells good I am very hungry."

Angelus laughed softly, "Not surprised we used up some energy last night."

Buffy picked up a piece of bacon, "Yeah that we did."

They sat and ate quietly. The sun shone in through the window. Buffy felt more alive than she ever had in her life. Her skin seemed to almost tingle.

Angelus was watching her closely. He could see the change in her. She had very healthy and happy glow about her.

Buffy took her last bite and smiled as she chewed. Sitting back she looked at Angelus, "Going to take nice hot bath in that big tub."

Angelus grinned, "Can I join you?"

Buffy stood up, "Nope.... I would like a little alone time."

Angelus laughed, "Of course baby. I'll put the plates outside the door and lay down maybe take a nap."

Buffy paused at the bathroom door, "Yeah get some energy stored up cuz you're gonna need it."

Angelus smiled as she shut the door behind her. Picking up the plates he went over to the bedroom door and opened it up. He placed the dirty dishes on the floor next to the door. Standing up he spotted Cordelia. She gave him a smile and wink.

Part 34

The four days were over and Angelus and Buffy slept deep. They needed their rest.

Giles watched as they slept. He smiled things had turned out rather nicely. Angelus now had a mate and a worthy one at that.

Quietly Giles left their room. Doyle and Cordelia were standing in the hallway.

Doyle smiled, "Both sound asleep."

Giles nodded, "Yes and they probably will sleep for at least the next twelve hours."

Cordelia sighed, "Thank goodness some of the noises coming from that room were almost disturbing."

Doyle winked at her, "Maybe but it sure gave me ideas."

Cordelia rolled her eyes, "Yeah like I want to be a nun."

Doyle chuckled, "Oh Princess you a nun hardly. Just can't see you in a habit."

Cordelia smiled, "Hmm not a good fashion statement I have to agree."

Giles smiled, "We need to get things ready for the trip home."

Doyle sighed, "Aye that we do."

Cordelia sighed, "Wish I could go with you."

Doyle smiled, "You can if you want. You can go as Buffy's Lady in Waiting since you and her are related."

Cordelia grinned, "Oh hey that would be so cool."

Giles chuckled, "Go pack and bring your things here that way we can get them sent ahead of us. Oh and try not to pack more than four bags."

Cordelia frowned, "Only four hmm that won't be easy but I think I can do it."

Both men chuckled as they watched Cordelia hurry off. Giles turned to Doyle.

"So how did things go between the two of you?"

Doyle shrugged, "Not bad we talked I told her some of the history of our land and people. She is pretty smart. Not sure if she'd be willing to be my mate but maybe I can convince her."

Giles shook his head, "She'd make a good one."

Doyle smiled, "Aye that she would."

Giles smiled, "Go get some rest I'll take care of things. If I need you I'll let you know."

Doyle opened the door the room behind him, "Thanks I am a little tired."

Giles turned and went downstairs after Doyle went inside the room and closed the door.

Downstairs Giles found Anya waiting for him. He smiled at her, she did look very much like her Mother.

"Anya it's good to see you. So is there anything I can help you with?"

Anya nodded, "Umm there is I need to tell Xander about our people and customs. He needs to know about his own history. I would like to bring him by later on."

Giles shrugged, "Sure I will help all I need to do is make travel arrangements for when Angelus and Buffy wake up and are able to travel."

Anya smiled, "So things went smoothly I take it?"

Giles nodded, "That they did. Now go fetch your Xander."

Anya stood up she went over and gave Giles a hug, "Okay I will."

Giles sat down after she left. He was happy for Anya he just hoped that Xander would be understanding.

Part 35

Xander sat there stunned. He kept looking at Anya then Giles. He couldn't believe what he'd just been told.

"Look umm I find this well weird I need some sort of proof."

Anya sighed, "I know it's all so hard to take in but it's all true."

"Listen to her Xander she is speaking the truth."

Everyone turned to who spoke. Buffy stood there practically glowing. Xander stood up and went over to her.

"So you umm just spent four days mating with some guy who bit you?"

Buffy giggled, "Yep and some of the best four days ever."

Xander shook his head, "This is all so bizarre."

Buffy nodded, "It is but it's all true and our Grandmother is from their country so that makes us one of them. Look Xander you love Anya and she loves you so what's the biggie?"

Xander glanced over at Anya and smiled, "I do love her she is the best thing that ever happened to me. Okay I guess I can get use to whole idea."

Buffy grinned, "Goody cuz we are leaving soon and I want you to come along with Anya of course and Cordy is going to be with us."

Xander smiled a little, "Never been anywhere really just to Disneyland and San Diego."

Giles stood up, "I glad that you are being reasonable. I want Anya to come home where she belongs."

Anya went over to Xander, "We can be together and have a family it will be really nice."

Angelus came into the room, "Ah there is my love. How are things?"

Buffy grinned, "Xander is coming with us too. Anya explained everything to him."

Angelus smiled, "Good that way you'll have friends there."

Giles smiled, "We leave at midnight so Xander and Anya go home and do some packing. Not much we need to travel lite."

Anya took Xander's hand, "Come on sweetie we have so much to do."

Xander nodded, "Yeah I guess we do."

Giles turned to Angelus and Buffy after Anya and Xander left, "Are you ready to leave?"

Angelus turned to Buffy, "We're ready."

Buffy nodded, "Yeah I am looking forward to seeing where Angelus is from."

Giles smiled, "Good why don't you go and say your good byes and maybe grab a few things you want to take with you."

Buffy smiled, "Sure. Are you coming with me Angelus?"

Angelus shook his head, "I have a few things to do here."

Buffy sighed, "Okay I won't be long."

Angelus walked Buffy to the door, "I have a car and driver waiting for you."

Buffy stared at Angelus, "Wow that's cool I think."

Angelus laughed slightly and gave Buffy a quick kiss. She smiled at him as she hurried out to the waiting car.
