There are 110 pyramids knonw in Egypt. The pyramids were built for a a burial place for the Pharaohs after the died. Construction begain on a pyramid once the paraoh became a pharaoh. The pramids were made of limestone blocks. The egyptains would move these blocks useing a ramps and a object that looked like a sled. They would put the blocks on the sled like objects and men would pull them from ropes. A person would splash watetr in the the tracks of  "sled" and that would make it slid easier. Most of the people who worked on the pyramids would be farmers. This was because the Nile River would flood the farmer's land to the point were the land was under water. It was a great time for the construction of the pyramid because this was great for bouts to bring the blocks to the construction of the pyramid.

                   The Paraohs and there Pyramids
 

The earliest pyramid was the step pyramid. This pyramid was built for King Djoser over 4,600 years ago. This pyramid was the largest pyramid built in Saqqara. The steps of this pyramid was to be steps to the heavens. In his pyramid there were many corridors. All these corridors led under ground to his burial chamber, which was lined with pink granite. This burial chamber was 23 meters uder ground.

The very first pyramid was made for King Sneferu. It is known as " The Red Pyramid " because of its color and it is known as the " North Pyramid " because of its position. It is 105 meters high and its sides are 220 meters wide.

 The largest pyramid ever built was  " The Pyramid of Giza". It was built for King Khufu. The pyramid had 2,300,000 limestone blocks. Each of these blocks wieght was 2.5 tonnes. Some of the larger blocks wieght was 15 tonnes It is 146.6 meters high. It was finished around 2550 bc. Near this pyramid there were much smaller pyramids. These pyramids were for his queens. In 1954 a boat was found it a pit of the pyramid. The boat was so that the pharaoh could travel through the underworld.
