Van - Melly Talks Jazz

This disc has virtually NONE of Van's music.

Part one is a recording of the "Melly Talks Jazz" radio programme originally
broadcast on BBC Radio 2 on 24 August 1999. Melly's guest is Van Morrison
and they talk about musical influences and the record industry in between
playing Van's choice of music (Muddy Waters, Ray Charles, John Lee, Sidney
Bechet and Leadbelly). Van is more talkative than usual in an interview.

Part two is "Maritime Blues" a radio documentary originally broadcast on BBC
Radio Ulster that documents the introduction of rhythm and blues to Belfast
via the Maritime Hotel, the starting point for people like Them and Rory
Gallagher. Them provide quite a focus for the broadcast. As well as
snippets of the music of the era there are brief interviews with Them
personnel and other musicians of the day, including Rory and a few brief
words from Van.

The shows last approx.. 30 minutes each and are on one CD.
