TAURANGA CITY SOFTBALL CLUB (Est. 1999) FORMERLY T.C. STEALERS The organisation began in 1996 - 1997 with the Tauranga Boys College team including two adults playing in the senior mens competition. The following season the introduction of several experienced players highlighted the need for an organisation to accommodate people who wanted to play softball. Over the next seasons, both experienced players and beginners were welcomed with open arms. Leading to three seasons of good results. 1996 - 1997 (College Cardinals) Winners Mens B Grade 1997 - 1998 3rd equal Mens A Grade 1998 - 1999 5th overall Mens A Grade 1999 - 2000 5th overall Mens A Grade 2000 - 2001 2nd Mens A Grade 2001 - 2002 3rd Mens A Grade 2002 - 2003 3rd Mens A Grade 2003 - 2004 2nd Mens A Grade In 1998 - 1999 the players showed there passion for the "team" by volunteering to purchase their own uniforms, the seeds of the club were planted. In 1999 - 2000 the relationship with "The Fat Snapper Turf Bar" allowed T.C. Stealers to become the Tauranga City Softball Club. Also at this time the family nature of the club started to show through. With the wife's, girfriends and female supporters. Showing an interest in playing softball rather than watching, T.C. Stealettes was born. In 2000 - 2001 the club has grown to another level. The Tauranga City Softball Club's Junior team will make their first appearance in January 2001. Our goal is to be the most progressive and family oriented club in the Western Bay of Plenty. Finally Tauranga City Softball Club wishes to thank Terry Shaw for his support. |
