Loving Hearts & Hands Doulas, Inc.
What is a Doula?
Doula is a Greek word that generally means "mother's helper". A doula provides support to the mother before, during and after childbirth.
What a doula does...
A doula provides labor support to the mother during childbirth by assisting her with relaxation techniques that can help decrease the need for epidurals, cesarean sections, and episiotomies; and can also decrease the occurance of possible injuries such as tearing or hernia.

After the birth, the doula provides the mother emotional support, breastfeeding support, and assistance with older siblings. She also assists with meal preparation, shopping and errands, light housekeeping, laundry, and care of the newborn(s) - both during the day, as well as overnight.
